A lot of people are saying things are boring right now, but look at this stretch we will probably face if we want to win a National Championship.

@ Auburn (Who will be Top 5 or Top 10 for a spot in the SECCG)
SECCG (In Atlanta against Top 5 UGA for a spot in the Playoff)
Semi-Final (Top 4)
National Championship (Top 4)

Sure, it’s a tough stretch every year but this year looks like it could be the toughest yet with no room for error at the end of the regular season. That would be a tough test for any recent National Champion. Things might not seem very exciting right now as we go through the middle of our schedule, but that will change in just over a month.

As Coach Saban would say, the oxygen gets thinner the closer you get to the summit.

Here is the good news. We should win every one of those games if we A. Limit turnovers and B. Play good solid defense.

D. Have an efficient offense
E. Avoid key injuries

I’d argue those two issues cost us the National Championship last year. Nonetheless, it will be no rest for the weary. It’ll require a team effort because we’re essentially looking at a slate of 4 straight Top 4 caliber teams away from home.

Think about this one. If, hold your puke, Auburn was to win the national title, they'd have to do that PLUS another Top 5 game. Now, 2 of them are at home, but lawd.

- Top 5 Georgia
- Top 5 Alabama
- Top 10 Georgia again
- Top 4 team
- Top 2 team

Wooooooo buddy

Goodness.

That’s why I say anyone who wants to expand the playoff is an idiot. The regular season is already a playoff.

Exactly. I would consider going to 6 with some sort of 2 team bye, but anything past that is ridiculous. Can you imagine 3 games against Top 16 teams after playing the regular season?

Just silly. You'd get a lot of hot 3 loss champions, just like in the NFL too.

Its probably the stretch of Arky, Tennessee, 7sU, State, Mercer that people arent excited about compared to past years.

UGA will be a significant test in order to see the last 2 games.

It also becomes a survival game at that point relative to injuries. Even Saban has made that point. We’re the deepest team in the country and even we are pretty beat up by the end of the CFP.

In theory, I wouldn’t mind a 6 team playoff but in the end, the seedings are subjective. They aren’t really earned like we see in the NFL. Getting a bye or having a playoff game on your own campus is too big of an advantage to be left up to subjective seedings.

Those points are never considered by people who think this is no different than a Playstation game and we can just expand the playoff or add teams like Oklahoma or Clemson to the SEC without any kind of problem.

Agree. Pie in the sky, I'd like to see all Power 5 conferences have a representative with a 6th spot being either a G5 team (if one is worthy or an at large). However, I think the last 3 years have proven that we generally do not have more than 4 teams that had a really, really good case to be in. If they are left out (Penn State last year, Ohio State the year before), it's because they have a legitimate resume wart.

Kind of like arguing about how you got screwed out of the First Four game in Dayton. Maybe your argument was a tad better, but lets face it, at some point in your season you didn't do enough. And that's on you.

Honestly - I'd rather shorten the regular season, play P5 games only, have an extra bye week and then all figure out what to do about conference championships together (all 5 conferences). Then have the playoff.

A team who locks down defense and doesn’t allow many points can win that type of game. AJ’s passing stats in his four games against top ranked def weren’t stellar either but we won 3 of 4 and the 1 loss was because of a critical turnover.

2011 vs LSU- 16/28 199 yards
NCG vs LSU- 23/34 234 yards
2012 vs LSU- 14/27 165 yards
2013 vs LSU- 14/20 179 yards

If they want to expand the playoffs then the 85 limit needs to go. Also I don't know how it would work with exams and Christmas break. These things are never thought through it seems.

Its all semantics so its really pointless to debate it right now. The point is, we'll have play excellent football to survive the gauntlet at the end of this season.

We had an awesome defense last year, but they had to play 99 snaps and we lost.
