I don't know much about what's going on with the placekicking, but it seems like it's probably not good.

Can anyone fill me in?

Could be wrong, but it sounds like it's either the new kid Bulovas or JK Scott.

Kick field goals inside the redzone, go for it between the 20-40, punt it any futher back.

The Bulovas (sp?) kid coming in is supposed to have a cannon for a leg and be very good. But, he's a kicker and will be a freshman, so who knows?

I expect a platoon like 2011. One guy will be the kicker 35 and in, the other 35 and out.

It keeps me up at night

The kid from OM is fine for extra points. He just has a weak leg. The mid to long range stuff will come down to how good this freshman is. If he isn't awesome Scott can handle it and probably do about as well as Griff did during his career. So, I don't see it being a big drop off from what we've had, honestly.

Still trying to figure out why we didn't give multiple Dodge Chargers to Carlson's little brother.

Amazing how AU reloads at that position.

Aaaah my head hurts! I was hoping the NCAA would come through for us this year and ban the PK position.

Griff made 69.5% of his kicks in his Alabama carreer.

He made 72% of his kicks as a junior and 75% as a senior.

"About as well as Griff" is a pretty danged high standard to meet.

Scott's form was all wrong at A-Day. You could see how awkward and uncomfortable he was at that position. I don't know that there is a quick fix for that.

New kid had two blocked at practice yesterday. Paps kicks are higher but not as much leg. So i dunno at this point.

Wow,how can Bama not get a good kicker.

Time for open tryouts, someone at UA has to be able to kick field goals.

Kickers as we have seen are so hit or miss. I wish we could get a steel nuts nail driver.

That is not good news. I'm guessing Paps for extra points and Scott for FG's. How can we not sign a decent college kicker? It's really mind boggling at this point.

for real man. surely someone on the damned soccer team (rec or not) has a cannon of a leg and has kicked before.

kickers are like closers in baseball though. if you can build confidence (and mental toughness) and the talent is there, they're great. if you can't build confidence, all the talent in the world doesn't matter.

I have several analogies that come to mind.

"Couldn't hit a bull in the arse with a bass fiddle"

"Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn"

"Couldn't hit water if you fell out of a boat"

"Couldn't kick a dime in an elephant's arse"
