'73? '77? Something like that. 40 years give or take. I tell you what, we don't lose much these days, but when we do, it's usually in some brutal fashion.

I know...I wasn't around for that, but my dad was a kid when it happened. He said he was heartbroken. Last night, I got to feel what that was like. Yet, I have more of a peace and calm about it. I know Alabama can't win 'em all. I also know that they'll be back for another one at some point. I'm trying to stay positive. I have to remember that going into the season, I wasn't even expecting them to make the playoffs! So, 14-1 is bittersweet and stings, but it could have been so much worse.

It's been 42 years. The 1975 Orange Bowl against Notre Dame. SMH. Not a feeling we're used to.

Bama does better as the number 2 team in these games. The win over Texas in 09 was I think the only time Bama won as the #1 team.

Its a strange feeling. I was in a much darker place after the Kick 6. Right now I'm more sad because I hate that this team had to go out like that and I hate that so many anti-bama douchenozzles in the media & at other schools feel vindicated today. Its also sad because winning the national championship game is kind of our "thing." When we play in the game, we win. Its like vintage Tiger on Sunday or something. Now that's gone.

You don't think Clemson will fade away like Y.E. Yang did after his comeback against Tiger??

It never gets any easier. I'm old enough to remember the 73 Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame. That one still sticks in my craw just like the one last night. Maybe the better team did win...but we could have too. We had our chances and we uncharacteristically blew them. I kept thinking on that last drive that someone, SOMEONE on that defense, that proud, mighty defense would step up and make a play. But they didn't. Maybe next year. I'm already foaming at the mouth to teach these Semenholes I live among to STFU and take their arse whooping like a man.

That's what I was praying for as well. That someone would make a play. That even though they were tired and spent, that someone would step up and become a legend. I hate it for those guys.

I was even thinking a blocked FG attempt.

Yep me too - and I thought the same. But damn, Clemson did that instead. The Williams catch, the Leggett catch. Those were all world plays.

Me too, I thought Bama was about to win by blocking the field goal attempt

I actually thought Dabo was going to screw himself into having to basically play for a 35 yard field goal, and then Leggett made that incredible catch followed up by the PI in the endzone.

It sucks, but it is what it is. Bama will hopefully turn it into motivation and be right back in the Playoff next year.

Depends on how you define a Natty game. As an actual national championship game (#1 vs. #2) it was in '71 against Nebraska. In '73 we lost to #3 Notre Dame but in actuality it was a national championship game as ND jumped to #1. In the '74 season, if we had won the Orange Bowl against Notre Dame we would've been champs...but it wasn't the national championship game since ND wasn't in contention as they had a couple of losses...

Of all of 'em the '73 game hurt the worst for me. That team was awesome and to lose by a missed extra point (from a guy who'd made over 100 straight) was a heart-breaker...

To put it in another context, when we shite the bed it is explosive, bloody, hot, foamy, diarrhea.

Forgot about that....was thinking it had to be all the way back to 1973 and the loss to Notre Dame.
