This is what Saban said today:

Saban on Ben Davis: We'll see. This is an opportunity to show what he can do. We're going to have a lot of competition at that position.

Not exactly a glowing praise. I don't know why Davis hasn't seemed to find his way on to the field. It's strange how some guys get it and some just don't for whatever reason.

Davis was behind Mekhi Brown in the outside LB rotation at practice today. He seems to be dead last on the depth chart at OLB.

I really thought Davis would play before Mack Wilson. It's actually comical, how much I'm wrong. I bet I'm wrong about 90% of the time, if not more. It's impressive

Davis not being ready for snaps at this point is disappointing. He has the physical tools, so it must be somethinng between his ears. I'm hoping they'll move Moses outside as I think he'd be a terror out there.

Not necessarily.

We're stacked with talent. Evans is a beast and he just won a true starting role this year.

Moses is gonna be great wherever they put him. Been hyped up since he was an eighth grader and didn't disappoint. First game against one of the best teams in CFB and forces a fumble and recovers a fumble

For the record, I said two years ago that Davis was a much more important recruit than Wilson.

Long story short on Davis. He is soft as a baby's arse and has a long way to go. That's the best way to put this.

Any objective person who saw him play at Gordo will tell you he never really stood out on the field. He would make some good plays here and there, but then he would just kinda disappear. Almost like Adrian Hubbard was at UA. Could blow up a combine and had awesome measurables, but the only thing you could really say about his on field performance is "he was there"

Just seems like a whiff by our staff in that case. I guess they thought they could coach some aggression out of him.

I believe he is but if he is already behind a true freshman or two and others in his year there won't be much hope for playing time going forward at this point.

I suspect we'll see Moses and Allen get a lot of reps these next few weeks. I think Jamey Mosley and Mekhi Brown will probably start, but Brown has been there long enough that he would've played a lot by now if he had starter ability. Lewis was the first guy off the bench and Mosley was the second guy off the bench.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them platoon out there the rest of the season based on down and distance. Could see Mosley on run downs and Moses on pass downs, Dylan will be a stud but I worry about him setting the edge against 300 pound tackles in the run game.

Could also see Rashaan play outside on passing downs like he did a lot last year.

There's no other way to slice it than this was an ominous start. Lewis looked like a stud against FSU. Losing our top 3 outside linebackers in one game is insane, Jennings could be out for half the season knowing high ankle sprains
