Sad day.

"He was placed on hospice two days ago, and was surrounded by friends and family when he passed away today.

His father, Raymond Turner, posted this on Facebook: "Just wanted to tell ever one, Myra and I lost a great son today. He will be missed so much, Thank everyone so very much over this journey we have had for all your support ,prayers. He was ready to go to Heaven, excited he said. Love y'all, and thanks God Bless."

I can't even imagine what he went through. We will be praying for his family.

Rest in Peace Kevin

Really hate to hear that. Had the fortune of meeting his wife and kids after they moved back to Birmingham years ago. Super nice folks. Hope they can find comfort with their faith and each other.

He was around my age and loved watching him play, gave it his all every play.

This is so sad. It makes me feel like I lost a family member when a Bama player dies. All we can do now is pray. RIP Kevin Turner.

Awful to hear, what a shitty disease. He was one of my favorites from the Stallings era.

One of my all-time favorite Bama players. Always gave it everything he had, and I'm sure that was the case during his long battle with this horrible disease. I feel very sorry for his family. I recommend this documentary regarding Turner.

This has bothered me more than I thought it would. I went to school with KT. He was such a genuine guy and was always smiling and personable. I can't say we were friends but just from the occasional speaking in the hallways, I wish we would have been because he's just always seemed so genuine.

I'll always remember KT as being the true American man's man. Build like a greek God with the heart of a lion, a Prattville Lion! I'll never forget all those Friday nights cheering for my beloved Lions and watching KT carry Prattville to their first of many State Championships. I'll always remember the state championship game in particular when KT scored on 3 consecutive plays of 60+ yards, the first two were called back for holding. Glasscock kept running the same play and KT scored all three times.

I truly hope this disease gets the attention and research it deserves, because if it can reduce such a determined and physical specimen as KT to what it did then it ranks right up there with cancer as one of the evil things on this planet we must eradicate.

Go rest high on that mountain KT! You're work on Earth is done. #golions #rolltide

Met him a few times when he was playing at Alabama. Really good guy. ALS is evil.

RIP Kevin.

Prayers for comfort and peace for his family.

A great Fullback for Bama and then New England, and I'm sure a great person.Usually great people that are much loved are the ones that suffer like he did.

Rest in Peace Kevin Turner.

Awesome message by Coach Swinney at Kevin's funeral, he is a powerful speaker. I see why his players respond to him.... I am a Clemson fan as long as he's there....unless they happen to be playing us
