Is Tua really going to wait until his senior year to start?

I know he seems happy and committed right now, but that's a long 3 years.

Maybe, but it's difficult to believe.

He's one play away from being the starter.

Look at Georgia.

He is just a freshman. He backs up a guy that takes a lot of hits so he could be needed for that reason (knocks on wood).

He will have his opportunity to win the job in the future.

I expect a hell of a qb battle in the spring and fall next year.

No, he'll compete this offseason and we'll see how the cookie crumbles come spring 2018

I have to think he'll have a legitimate chance to win the job in the offseason. Otherwise I don't see why he wasn't redshirted this year to get more separation between him and Jalen.

He wasn't redshirted because we only have 3 scholarship QBs on the roster, and 2 of them are true freshmen.

If he hasn't won the job by the end of next year, he gone.

If he hasn't won the job by start of the season he is gone.

No one's to blame it is just business.

I cant imagine a player of that caliber waiting 3 yrs. He could dominate on a team out west where offenses rule the game. However what keeps me optimistic is the fact his family moved here

let me put it this way, the move back would cost them much more.....

i'd love to see the staff put Tua in in passing situations early in games. force the defense to respect our passing game. something they dont really have to do with jalen, sadly

But from a players perspective he would fit the Oregon offense to a tee and I see their recruiting has picked up so in a year or two they could be a formidable team out west

Anyone saying they know what a kid will do is simply guessing and guilty of assuming everyone thinks like they think. Every single person placed value on different things.

As far as waiting to start, Matt Cassell spent his entire career as a backup at USC and he is still in the league.

If he doesn’t go this offseason then he’ll have to his junior year out of D1 football anyway

It's amazing how much longer Cassell has lasted than the guy he backed-up. Hell, if Cutler didn't un-retire then Cassell would have lasted longer than the three first round QB picks the year he went in the Seventh.

He's probably going to takeover next year after a long spring-fall battle. I don't see him transferring out with his family already situated here. Where his brother commits might also play a part though.

I don't doubt that Tua has as much potential as any QB in the country, but say we go 15-0 and win the title, do people really think Saban wouldn't start Jalen next season? I mean the guy would essentially be 29-1 with 2 title appearances and a ring, an SEC OPotY award, etc. I love both of the guys, and I definitely see Tua playing more and more, but outright taking Jalen's job? I'm not sure I see that happening. You never know, that's for sure.
