Not the same concept but argue if you want. FB stayed at a local hotel and bused in for the game. FB now comes to Bham for friday night and buses to Tuscaloosa for the game. So even practicing in tuscaloosa is hard since so much of the existing field is torn up. I am just saying that the schedule in the SEC is tough enough and then to have all your home games in Bham adds to it. With this being my opinion, i just dont see BB pulling the trigger on letting him go until after next year. He still has a good shot of making the NCAA tournament.

He's probably going to get another season, but a once great home field advantage is long gone. The fanbase has eroded away over the last decade. We need excitement again in Alabama baseball. There was a glimpse of it last year with the right field lounge, and maybe with that being incorporated into the new stadium things will get back to the old days. But Gaspard gotta do his part too.

Here's my problem with Gaspard: we all know the SEC is the same meat grinder it is in almost every sport. And Bama has been one of the upper crust SEC teams forever. But every year about this time, the folks that follow Bama baseball start speculating on whether or not we squeak into the SEC tourney, not whether or not we have a chance to win it. Then we do the same thing on whether or not we make a regional. Not if we can host and win one. Most years we get to Hoover and get beat. Ditto for a regional. Is that the goal for Bama baseball? Because that's all this man has done and will continue to do. I remember going to the CWS back in the day that should be our aim every year, not just to make some damn playoff along with about 31 other teams. We're better than that or should be. #GaspardsGottaGo

The guy seems to be able to develop starting pitching over time, but then the pen will rutinely super suck, I.e, multiple hit batsmen, walks, dingers, big innings. Hitting is terrible. Could have taken two from LSU, but decided to leave men in scoring position all night.

Gas seemed like a good hire at first, but now I just am underwhelmed by him.

Recruiting and retaining players have been a problem for Gaspard. He should have talked Ben Moore and Spencer Turnbull into staying another season. Those two stay and the season could be completely different.

did they go pro. Hard to talk a kid into staying when the Pro ranks is what they aspire to do. Do you suppose maybe he could hand cuff the kids to their beds and keep them. You make it sound so simple. Just talk to the kid and convince them to hang around another year. Wow. Really?

I don't know if Turnbull would've made that much difference. Hitting is terrible. Maybe he would've pushed a quality guy into the bull pen and kept a few games for us, but that's a maybe.

Whose up for meeting at baumhowers for lunch Friday and then going over and talking to coach Battle?

Football team was playing one game a week, plus they weren't having to practice in Hoover. For the last few weeks, the baseball team has had to travel just to practice. They're drained.

not that I am a huge fan of Gaspard, but this is exactly why I think he will get another year.

I would be okay with it if he would fire his friends.

They're not drained. They stink. Hitting and pitching are developed indoors during the off-season. 40 minute bus-rides don't make that big of a difference. MLB players will travel 40 mins by car daily to the park. Got blanked AGAIN today.

In before "they're not pros".

They are division one players. Suck it up.

Gaspard is 75-97 in SEC play. Six games remaining at Auburn and home vs Vandy.

The last three years we've finished 6th, 5th and 5th in division play. This year we'll probably finish 7th.

Changes need to be made

At the top.

I'm sure Hoover has added to the challenge, but this season is just the tip of the iceberg. It's one thing to not advance to Omaha, but we've only made one super regional (the real judgement of "good" teams in college baseball).

The calls he makes during the game make you want to pull your hair out. Bunting with your best batter at the plate when he's 4 for 4....he makes decisions like that on a regular basis, and they never work.

I can appreciate the role he played in getting us a new ballpark, but that doesn't mean we should continue to put up with "lack of facilities" as an excuse for why we're not good.

Early looks at a potential coaching change:

Bobby Pierce - Troy
Matt Riser - Southeastern Louisiana

How old is Pierce? Seems like he has been at Troy forever.

Pierce is retired now. Don't think he'd be an option.

He's 55 and has announced a retirement at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
