Here's the drafted talent we had on that team:

Offense

Julio Jones (1st round)
Trent Richardson (1st round)
Mark Ingram (1st round)
Chance Warmack (1st round)
James Carpenter (1st round)
D.J. Fluker (1st round)

Eddie Lacy (2nd round)
Barrett Jones (4th round)
Arie Kouandjio (4th round)
AJ McCarron (5th round)
Greg McElroy (7th round)

Defense

Marcell Dareus (1st round)
Dre Kirkpatrick (1st round)
Dee Milliner (1st round)
Dont'a Hightower (1st round)
Mark Barron (1st round)
C.J. Mosley (1st round)

Courtney Upshaw (2nd round)
Nico Johnson (4th round)
DeQuan Menzie (5th round)

12 first round draft picks off this team, with 20 drafted overall. This team was uber talented and yet only went 10-3. Hard to believe.

A few significant injuries held us back that year. Ingram played the whole season with an injured knee basically, T-Rich got injured about halfway through the season I think. Julio, Upshaw, and Dareus played almost the whole season injured IIRC. Hightower was coming off of a bad ACL tear.

Our secondary was 95% green, and our Oline was about the same.

Also, the SEC was damn strong that year, almost across the board.

South Carolina just straight up beat us, with some help from so much inexperience on our defense, and an offense that couldn't really produce a great running game. Mainly just an almost flawless performance by them and VERY rowdy home-crowd.

The LSU game was a toss-up for the most part, that we barely lost. Our defense gave up a few 3rd and 4th down conversions that ultimately decided the game.

We straight up choked away the IB. No real excuse for that.

I also think that, as far as offense goes, GMac tried to do too much the whole season. He played very efficient for the most part, but I remember him taking so many sacks by trying to hold onto the ball as a last-ditch effort at making a play. He played very valiantly in 2010, but sometimes it was to the teams detriment.

Injuries were costly. The starting OL that year only started 5 games together and Bama was 5-0 in those games. Ingram got injured in preseason camp, Upshaw in the first game, Dareus in the first game back from the suspension, Fluker in the SC game, Julio in the SC game, Richardson in the LSU game, Barrett Jones in the Miss St. game and Hightower would not return to form until 2011. Bama finally was healthy for the Bowl game and we know how that went.

Agreed. Most talented team I've seen at Bama but I'm only 24. We were in all those games lost and I think the real talent of this team showed in that Capital One Bowl. Had the team been that consistent, and healthy, all year then there's a good chance we only lose one game that year, if any.

Without a doubt. Think about many of those guys comin back in 2011 after the way they finished against Michigan State. There would be no asterisk on the 2011 team. Would be hands down GOAT.

Wouldn't mind having these boys back there again.

Yeah...it wouldn't have even been close.

2010 had all sorts of talent, but something just wasn't right. I remember that Florida game. We beat the hell out of them but that poor UF team basically beat us inside the 20's. Was sort of the first indicator that something was off.

Ingram's fumble, McElroy's fumble, Barron's pectoral, McElroy's late injury. (although I think at that point there was already a fork in it.)

I remember thinking that too. Something felt off against Penn State as well.

Yeah, we should've blown the doors off of Penn State

7 are starters on NFL teams while 5 others have a chance to start or share starting spots.

Your numbers are off. I went through this last around draft time. It was something like 54 players were on a NFL roster at some point in some form or fashion.

Now I am going to look at it again. Brb.

Got a quick glance. 54 was right I think. I'll break down drafted number again later. It was way more than 20. Every guy on the 2 deep but 1 or 2 was drafted. That wasn't counting freshmen.

Trent's dropped TD pass at the goalline.

The only game in history where if you told me our team got paid/ordered to lose I'd believe it.

I'm sure it didn't really happen, but that game has never sat right with me due to the differences in halves. Like 2 different teams.

Yeah, should have been 42-0 at the half.

Was that the Iron Bowl? Thought it was the LSU game.

That was the Iron Bowl. Hit him right in the hands, with no one around him, standing in the endzone.
