While having a prime time game is awesome I do miss having a home and home. If this GT game goes through that means we won't have our first game at home for almost a decade (Last game at home was Kent State 2011- also my first Alabama game ever. )

I'm sure we can get some of these teams to schedule home and homes.

Meh....for those of us who don't live in Alabama anymore, these neutral sites are a great way to get to see the team. It's a pain in the dick to get to Tuscaloosa, East Lansing, or any real college town.

I love it that this is the kind of things fans bitch about nowadays. Bama problems. ...

The state of Georgia has some major, major studs in the classes of 2019 and 2020. Maintaining a presence in that state will be huge moving forward.

I hear this, but how much of a factor is it, really? Have we signed someone as a result of playing one of these games in a recruit's back yard? Or lost one because someone else's OOC neutral site game flipped a kid away from us?

If this were that big of a factor I would think FAU would have a fantastic home OOC schedule. The NC State/Maryland/Iowa type schools would love to have an easy win combined with showing the flag in fertile South Florida.

Or do WE really need it now? When Saban got here in 07, we needed to revive the brand. I get it. Now, if you don't know who Alabama the Evil Empire is, you've been in a coma or the Amazon jungle for 10 years.

Give the fans and college football a break. Could we please have a home and home with a big name sandwiched around one of these neutral site ball busters every 3 years?

FAU doesn't guarantee $6.5 million to the visitor.

Alabama got $6.5 million to play in Dallas last year. It costs about $300k to travel. The program makes $2-3 million more for a neutral site game than it does for a home game. Double that, since we do one every year.

You'll never see a home and home P5 game in any year we've been invited to play in one of these games.

So, basically when we start sucking again, we can invite Michigan to Ttown.

The way I look at it. I love having a big game the first week of the season. Let's be honest if we were playing mercer first the off season would be a lot more boring, also since we have really good first games I prefer domes because it's hot as balls at Bryant Denny for the first 3 or 4 games,

I'm fine with neutral site games every 3rd year or even every other year.

It stinks not seeing other P5 schools in Tuscaloosa EVER. Kansas State, Purdue, Virginia, Maryland, Utah, Illinois.....I'm not saying we have to play Ohio State and Texas at home, but just playing another big state school home and home once or twice a decade would be nice.

The only OOC teams we see at home are Mountain West teams, MAC teams, CUSA/Sun Belt teams and teams from the SoCon. Barf.

Agreed. I bet we don't get $6.5 mil for that one either.

You've got to be kidding. That's a great matchup against Petrino. Hell, they beat FSU by over six touchdowns last year.

Can't disagree more. Richt will have them as a title contender in 2021. (They will blow it, of course, but they will be very good)

We're also going to be in Dallas in 2020. Part of our contract for the last game there was that we got $1 million more than our opponent in exchange for holding 2019 or 2020 open for them. They filled 2019 with AU/Oregon, so it looks like we will be back in three years.

I saw that Nebraska doesn't have a season opener scheduled yet for 2020, nor do they have a P5 oppent schedule yet. I hope Bama plays Nebraksa in Dallas in 2020.

Man I posted the same thing awhile back. When was the last time we played Nebraska? the 70's? I know that one would sell out for sure.

I like it - nice to be able to book a decent hotel, air travel and what not without planning years ahead. Not having to commute to BHam or something like that post game, etc.

Yeah, the novelty kinda wears out when it happens every single year. I was a senior at Bama when we hosted Penn State, and that was one of the most fun times in Tuscaloosa that I can remember. Such an amazing atmosphere the night before the game. It'd be awesome to see similar OOC teams come to town.
