He is a damn blocking machine on every play where he doesn't get the ball. It's a thing of beauty. Has to be the most unsung key player this year.

Probably taking up OJ's slack.

Don't be surprised to see him working out for the Patriots. Belichick likes guys like him.

He's a damn good all-around WR. The fact that this WR group has been wasted is the one thing that frustrates the hell out of me about this season.

Now we know how LSU fans feel every year with all that wasted WR talent.

I agree here. Ridley has the ability to burn the Clemson defense on down field passes, but we probably won't get to see that, even though this is game #15.

This is true. He has quietly played an integral role on the offense this year.

I definitely noticed Dieter's play in the Washington game. He played lights out and really man handled some guys.

Dieter head the final block on Bo's long TD run. He came flying out of nowhere to get ahead (almost hit) of Bo.

Yeah exactly that is what I was thinking of....love that guy and wish we could have him for another year.

There's a reason he's back deep on kickoff return. And it isn't for him to return the ball.

He supposedly came to BAMA to showcase his blocking and special teams skills, knowing he wouldn't be the main target. I would say he has done exactly that and then some. Hope a team gives him a chance at the next level.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him do very well in th league.

Shame we didn't get him and the other receivers more touches this year.

I keep seeing this, and I suppose I understand what you guys are saying from a fan's perspective, but players come to Alabama to win, and our WRs are perfect examples of doing what you need to do to help the team win no matter what that entails(being great blockers, making the most out of the opportunities that they do get, and going 100 percent every play.)

It seems like they are totally bought in to doing that. If that is their goal, and that is what they came here to do, how is there any "shame" or sympathy in that? They seem to completely understand the context of their situation with a freshman QB as evident by not a single bit of complaining about not getting enough targets.

My favorite was when he took that Vol player to the bus on Stewart's reverse.

Respectfully disagree.

5 star recruits sign with teams/coaches where they expect the opportunity to develop and showcase their talents, in hopes of getting to the next level.

Who was the last 5 star receiver we pulled in prior to Julio (I honestly don't know).

One of the reasons we got Julio-outside of Saban-was that we'd shown a willingness to throw the ball more with Croyle and JPW.

Julio's success helped us land Cooper, which then also help land Ridley.

I don't think one season will make or break us here. But if Hurts' passing doesn't improve, 5 star receiver recruits will not be beating down our door to run-block for 3 years.

I mean, I don't disagree, but you also have to understand that in college, the QB situation can be favorable in regards to production one year, and not the next.

Having said that, let's not act like these guys have been just completely frozen as far as touches.

I think the better question is who was the last 5 star player we pulled in prior to Saban.

Cooper wasn't even a big time WR recruit in comparison to Julio and Ridley. He was a diamond in the rough relative to the his talent.

This is erroneous. Hurts passed for 400 more yards than JPW did his senior year(Julio's first year), and he passed for more than McElroy did his first year starting. He basically had as many as Mccarron did his first year starting. How many 4 and 5 star recievers did we reel in during those years?

Furthermore, what happened in 2011 when we didn't even have an elite, 5 star receiver? We still had blue collar, productive, lesser rated receivers that were integral in us winning an NC.

No, not completely frozen. But how many touches are of the "jet sweep" variety. Sure it's nice to be involved, but these are not the touches they're gonna be seeng in the NFL

Not really. Prostyle vs this tempo spread read RPO hybrid we have now. More plays from tempo and more "passes" from the jet sweeps/pop passes.

Well thats fair

Not saying we can't win without bluechip receiver recruits.

Just stating what I think is likely/logical to transpire: the less receivers are involved, the less incentive 5star receivers have to sign with us.
