I'd love to see what Joey Jones could do in one of the power 5 conferences. I bet he could do pretty well if given the chance. I'd like it to be a program that would be patient with him of course. Jones was my first "favorite player" I ever had. As a little bastard I would pretend to be Joey Jones in my back yard with the neighborhood kids. Do any of you Mobile or Birmingham area Bama posters know him personally?

Don't think he has a college degree, which most P5 schools require.

The fourth sentence on his Wiki page says he's got a degree in business administration from Alabama and it is also listed in is official Bio on the USA football site.

Unless he's going full George O'Leary he's had that requirement covered for over 25 years.

He couldn't coach at USA or Birmingham Southern had he not completed his degree.

That rumor/BS began years ago when he was coach at Mountain Brook. Over-the-mountain folks "heard" he was on staff as a janitor/custodian because he didn't have a degree and that the rest of his salary was contributed by the booster club.

Me too so he will leave South! Tired of watching him lose to garbage teams and upset good ones.

His teams do seem to have that annoying little habit. Still, at 5-5 with Idaho and New Mexico State on the schedule it looks like a bowl bid and maybe a 7-5 regular season is on the way.

I have been a season ticket holder since day one and it's a constant habit. Very frustrating.

It's not a "degree", but you have to have an educational degree for a HS teaching position. It can affect what kind of salary package can be put together. The current MB basketball coach has a similar arrangement (BAchellors degree but not in education), so doesn't teach a class and has some other administrative title. Not uncommon with a lot of HS coaches apparently

The biggest scam in education right now is the requirement that someone has a "teaching" degree. Most of those degrees are far worse than actual real world experience, but schools can't hire people with real world experience because real world experience requires a degree that isn't a "teaching" degree.

If Jones wanted a P5 job he could have had one by now. That's on him.
