We have missed an electric and exciting player like Thornwell for so long. I thought Mitchell was good enough to help us in his last year, but we all know how that went down.

Hell, I'm just ready for us to get a W in the tournament. Haven't gotten one since '06. No reason a school like Alabama shouldn't be competing in the tournament.

Well we should be getting 2 electric players next year with Sexton and Petty. Hopefully we'll easily make the tourney and make a run like SC did

I agree 100%. We haven't had a player of Sexton's caliber in a long time. Just so happens we're getting two 5 stars. Petty is great too. When's the last time we've had two great guards?

BTW if you guys want to relive that 2004 tourney run...all of the games are on youtube.

If y'all didn't see my posts in the other thread, Sexton plays in the McDonald's All American game Wednesday night at 6 CT on ESPN. He also plays in a 3 point contest March 31st but it'll be aired on TV April 2nd at 2:30 CT on CBS

Petty does too but he doesn't go overboard and talk about other coaches' children like Sexton does

Just posted this in the other thread, I see where there's also a McDonald's JamFest tomorrow night with a 3 point contest and dunk contest. It's different from the other 3 point contest Sexton will be in. Idk if he's in this tomorrow night as well or not. It's at 7 CT on ESPN 2 so I'll be checking it out just to make sure

Sexton alone should be enough to earn a tourney birth. If Johnson can't make it happen with next year's roster then I think I will be sick.
Basically my mindset. Screw just making the dance. Alabama has the players to make the Sweet 16.

I expect us to make it, but there are some holes in the roster. It'll be a challenge in a better SEC.

This is the biggest factor in whether or not Alabama can get to the tournament next year. League is improving top to bottom in talent and coaching. All of this is a good thing, given that if you can make the tournament you should be battle tested from league play.

If South Carolina can get there, then so can we dammit. They have given me hope

You're GD right. No excuse now for us not being good at basketball. We are one of, if not the top brands in college athletics. Our revenue stream is pretty damn strong. We will never be in a better position than we are right now. If we can't parlay that into regular NCAA Tournament appearances then that's on us.

The University of Alabama should be relevant in March. The fact that we haven't been in over a decade is embarrassing. We should treat getting to the Final Four like Kennedy treated getting to the moon.

Having a great player doesn't mean you will go to the tournament. LSU had the best player in college basketball last year and didn't make it.

I'd like to think that Avery is a better coach and roster manager than Johnny fricking Jones.

Same is true for Washington this year.

I believe we will make the tourney next year. How far you go depends a lot on luck. Whats the highest seeded team Gonzaga has had to play so far?

We've been there twice since 2006. We just haven't won in over a decade.

This team should be a perennial top 25 squad. Good mix of young talent and experienced guys

Retin? Seems like other than this year that we've always had a star player. Before Retin was Randolph. Before him was Releford. Before him was Mitchell and Green. We just never had much of a supporting cast. This year we had the supporting cast, but no stars.
