In case anyone is curious Tua has a QBR of 62.9 which would be good for 57th in the country.

He is what he is and he is winning. I remember in 2015 when Brandon Harris had the #2 rating early on. Hurts won't have to beat anyone with his arm until Auburn but he certainly isn't Brandon Harris so I am confident he can get the job done.

Wouldn't total yards and TDs be more appropriate?

Of course it would. You are responding to the guy who would trade Nick Fitzgerald for Hurts.

Jalen Hurts has over 1,200 yards from scrimmage and is responsible for 10 TDs and no turnovers.

The answer is 100, which is actually better than I expected. Jalen has thrown for more yards than 30 QBs in the nation. Not bad

Actually there are 358 QBs with throwing stats. So he's 100/358. He's also 59th in total offense when you add in his rushing. And he's also, as the thread points out, very efficient.

Did Jalen bang your sister or undergrad daughter? You and Huddie bash the kid, no matter what.

No, I only looked at FBS QBs, of which there are 130.

Also, I'm not "bashing" Jalen. I'm simply countering some meaningless QBR statistic with a more important statistic.

That's bullshite. I haven't even mentioned the guy today and I don't think yesterday, and when I did it was in context of a thread, unlike PowHound basically bashing Tua for no apparent reason, even though he'd not been mentioned.

How's passing yards per game more important? Jalen hasn't been playing much of the second half recently, and he's a deadly runner which you're discounting. QBR is an efficiency rating that also takes into account running, turnovers, sacks missed, etc. It's much more telling than passing YPG.

He threw some strikes yesterday. Still mad about Ruggs dropping that TD

Holy shite, dude... you really are batshit crazy, huh ?

"bashing Tua" ? I posted his QBR, and didn't say a word about it.

Passing yards per game is a shitty measurement of anything without any actual context. We have a run-heavy offense and he's been pulled early to mid third quarter in 4 of 5 games. Of course he's not putting up huge numbers per game.

He's 30th nationally in yards per attempt at 8.4, albeit it on a relatively small sample size for the aforementioned reasons. Ideally it'd be nice to see that at 9+ but anything over 8 is perfectly fine.

Hurts is a proven winner. Tua looks like he will become one himself. I'm glad we've two damn good QBs. If we can keep blowing these teams out and Tua keeps getting good playing time were he actually runs the playbook, he may be able to step in when we play a team that stacks the box with good corners.

Pretty solid for a backup.

In case anyone was wondering about Passer Efficiency:

Jalen Hurts: 156.80 (24th in the Nation!)

Tua: 176.83 (Would be 5th in the nation if he had enough attempts to qualify)

Going from Jalen to Tua (maybe then to Little Tua??) should give us long term stability at QB
