Halftime show proposal

Last few weeks, I've been trying to think of how we could have a better halftime show. Let's be honest, few people pay attention to the marching bands and they do nothing to keep the energy level high during halftime.
I thought it would be cool to get a makeshift stage that can be easily assembled and let local bands play a few original songs during halftime. Get one band a week. Help promote local bands from Tuscaloosa/Alabama.
Thoughts?

No.
I'm not into the marching band, but having friends that were in the band while at Bama I know how much that experience meant to them and how much work they put into it. Taking that away from them would be a terrible move, IMO.

I dont think adding a local band or any band will make a difference. Majority of the people at the game are there for just that, the game.
I know the marching band gets me pumped for the game with elephant stomp and warming up on the quad.
IMO keep it the same but im a traditionalist.

This would never happen.
If anything, we should put on a Cowboy Monkey Rodeo

Just have some wizard come out and spin dinner plates on his knees, elbows, head, etc.

The band really just needs to start some traditions of their own that the fan base actually would like to see. Like Tennessee LSU and Ohio state among others. I don't know the last time I ever paid any attention to our bands corny theme shows that change every year.

Except that we do, and have so for years.........

Tennessee has been marching in circles for literally 50 years. LSU's pregame is great but their halftime shows have been lacking as well. (There have been several threads on TD talking about how the overall quality of their band has decreased over the years. Plus they're pissed that we out play their band in their own stadium).
Ohio State marches a completely different style from us, plus they're half our size so we really can't do what they do. (no one else does either).

We're always open to suggestions.

I just think they need to hire a band director away from a hbc. Teach the band to play some funkier songs. People get bored with military style marching bands.

The Jackson 5 show back in '09 was great.
They just need to learn not to interrupt the student section every time they start singing a song. It would be like the Wisconsin band starting to play right in the middle of jump around. Makes no sense.

What halftime traditions are you speaking of?
I didn't mean to offend anyone but I've been going to games for decades and I can't think of one thing that is a halftime tradition for our band that is unique to Alabama.

Also, I will readily admit that I really don't care either way.
But from a fans perspective, that stuff is what separates the best bands from everyone else. It's not about being technically proficient or musically perfect ... it's about engaging the fans.

Halftime not so much since we do a new show every few games, up to 5 different shows a year. Outside of Tennessee and Texas AM very few bands do the same show year after year.

?? Most fans have never even seen a military style band, as VERY few of those exist in college football. And only one in the SEC.

And people still get bored. It's the least exciting style of marching.
