This is a message from Bill Battle to a fan... "Hey Greg, thanks for your interest in Alabama basketball. I agree with that we need to improve the atmosphere around our basketball program. I don't agree with your assessment of our coach and I need to learn how to better provide support to aid his program and I am working on that. Constructive ideas are welcome. Bill"

Sorry I couldn't just screen shot the tweet. Looks legit hope its not.

An AD will always publically give a coach his full support right up until he fires him

Yea your are right. Not expecting him to throw him under the bus just doesn't sound like he is going anywhere to me.

Agree and if I had to wager, Grant is gone. However, Battle effectively married himself to Grant last year and has been very supportive publicly. Couple that with the still rather large buyout and I wouldn't be shocked that Grant is retained if we look "respectable" by the end of the season.

Agreed. Have to wait and see. Battle is a businessman first and foremost and may decide to squeeze one more year out of the contract.

Agree he is a businessman. As a fellow businessman I can tell you the "squeeze one more year out of the contract" was THIS year. His buyout is cut in half at end of this year compared to end of last year. Also, if you have an employee that is not producing for you the cost of their continued employment is most always greater than the cost of replacement.

(not the case with high producers who have job offers elsewhere..you usually match to keep that employee b/c hard & soft cost or replacing talent is almost always greater than cost of keeping talent)

I really like Grant and if our kids could shoot we would be a perennial tournament team. We should be known as the Great Wall due to our defense and relentless ability to lay bricks.

While true, you have to figure out the mindset of the admin has towards basketball. Right now, it is still producing money and isn't interfering with the top priority which is football. Maybe Battle is very content with the status quo in basketball and views any change as unnecessary until there are real tangible losses. Basically my point is maybe to Battle, Grant is "producing."

Not advocating we keep Grant. Just trying to figure out Battle's thought process.

Bama has had two guys shooting over 40% from threes all year. Levi, Tarrant and Hale are also decent shooters. Having guys that can't shoot is not Bama's problem

We are like 150th in FG % at 43.9 and 276th in 3 point shooting at 31.5.

Shooting is most definitely our problem.

Hard to have a good shooting percentage when the offense runs a five man perimeter weave until a player is forced to take a contested shot. Bama has plenty enough shooters, they will excel if put in a decent offensive set.

You say Bama can't shoot well, I say they do very well considering the restraints they have to deal with

Offensive philosophy is our problem. Lack of developed talent is our problem. Lack of an inside presence is our problem.

Agree with all. I seriously wonder what our guys practice because it sure isn't shooting, passing, or rebounding.

We try to be a half court team but we don't have the personnel. We should be running and running and running. full court trap every made basket. We don't ha e the shooters or bigs for a successful half court offense.

Oh, well just tell Grant to just run the "Open shot offense" ...That dumb arse is running the "Blocked shot/no offensive rebound" offense!
