More Bama fans there than showed up for the national championship in Tampa.

Kidding.

They're 15-5 and have like the fourth or fifth best record in the SEC. We're still well behind the top teams like USCe and MSU but we're not terrible like the past couple of years.

Coach Curry has done a phenomenal job with this women's team.

Playing a terrible out of conference schedule is the right thing to do when you're building a program. It's a lot easier to sell close to 20 wins regardless of whether you make a postseason tournament. Baylor and Washington did this in football.

Curry is building this team from ground zero (or maybe negative one) and is doing a great job. No denying that our OOC schedule was lightweight but we need the Ws and the confidence. We are winning the games we are supposed to win. We aren't ready to compete with the Miss States and the South Carolina's and Tennessees yet but we're getting there, one step at a time. If you don't follow it, you have no idea how bad we got under Wendel Hudson. We were Kansas football bad.

Mal Moore's "I'm too lazy to leave the building to look for a coach" phase.

That was a perfect storm. It had been 30 years since Clemson won a National Championship so their fans were driving up the price because they were willing to pay anything. Meanwhile our fans have been shelling out money for championship trips for years in addition to neutral site games, etc. Of course they were going to out number us.

Also, don't forget that a lot of Clemson fans stayed at home for the Fiesta Bowl while we pretty much had 80% of the crowd at the Peach Bowl.

Not really comparable IMO. I'm glad that Alabama fans were able to get off their asses and drive three hours to Atlanta, but it was three hours. Against a fanbase that had to go clear across the country. Of course we were going to outnumber them. Also, the Atlanta trip could easily have been a day trip. It was for me when I went to the SECCG.

I think Bama fans have just become spoiled and entitled. We expect to go to titles, so we don't embrace the moment, or how awesome it is that our team is there. We just think we will be there next year, and maybe we prefer the venue next year, so we decide to wait.

Clemson had a 70-30 advantage inside and probably a 90-10 advantage outside the stadium. It was embarrassing. Maybe the loss will help Bama fans to realize that a championship is not automatic.

It wasn't that steep, more like 65-35 or 60-40.

I'm just not going to berate people for not tacking on an additional $2,500 to an already expensive season of Tide Pride, Dallas trip, SECCG and Peach Bowl. If I hadn't gotten tickets through my Tide Pride there is zero chance I would have gone, and even then $1,100 for a pair (plus travel) is super expensive for a family that has a mortgage and kids to pay for.

It's easy to splurge when your entire adult life has looked forward to one championship game, a lot harder when you've dropped $3,000 on some championship football game 3 times in the last decade.

Clemson fans also had to splurge on a trip to Glendale. In addition to all of the other bowl games they've been to. It's not like national championships are the only bowl games fans attend.

We have a much bigger fanbase than Clemson. To get outnumbered that badly is inexcusable IMO.

Except they didn't. They didn't even come close to selling their little allotment. You cold buy 6 tickets together in the lower level on the Clemson website up until like New Years Eve. Ohio St outnumbered them 75/25 or worse. They all banked on going to the title game, Dabo even half jokingly mentioned it on the podium after the Fiesta Bowl.

I'm not saying we have great traveling fans, I don't know. I do know that it's insanely expensive to go to all the big games at Alabama in a season. Insanely expensive.

I think it's more of a pattern of behavior than just the game itself, you know?

A-Day is free, and our attendance has steadily dropped each year. I'll eat my words about our fanbase's entitlement if we get 90,000 at A-Day this year.

More referring to last year as well. It's not like this was Clemson's only title appearance.

Sure, and I agree. It almost feels a bit like the late 1990s Braves. People just took it all as as given.

No, but the NC is much more expensive.
