On Hey Coach Saban said OJ Howard could have a "Jalston Fowler type role".

Obviously he doesn't mean FB, but in terms of doing what Fowler did I could see him being a lead blocker in space for backs and on screens, and being a redzone target.

Hope he's stepped it up.

He needs to improve his blocking significantly. Fowler was a beast for us.

saw a mashup in one of the offseason articles about oj that showed him blocking. he actually sprung quite a few big plays last season with his blocking. hes not the best, but hes not bad at this point either.

Also.. whoever wants to do the Game thread... start it about an hour or two before the game and it'll be stickied.

What if I start it at 6 PM my time?

So Saban apparently said we are down to two guys at the QB position now.

People on BOL assume he is referring to Coker and Bateman.

in that case, coker's new nickname should be Bruce Wayne

I feel like between Stewart, Foster, and Ridley we may lack a lot of experience, but that's a shite ton of talent.

Someone made a funny post he other day, I can't remember who or I'd give credit, but it was something like:

Alabama's Offense

Starring:

ArDarius Stewart
Robert Foster
OJ Howard
Kenyan Drake
Derrick Henry
Chris Black

With Special Guest Star:

Richard Mullaney "The Chain Moving White Guy"

And Introducing:

Calvin Ridley

If David Palmer would have played in today's era of college football he would have been an absolute nightmare. I wouldn't put him in the same class as Julio or Cooper as a pro, but in college.... I think he would have been an absolute stud (which he already was in an archaic offense). On the downside he would have maybe played somewhere else to play in a spread system to fully realize his gifts. He would have been a terror in a HUNH offense.

He is pretty small and I dont know of many his size that excelled in the HUNH.

He was pretty shifty, had incredible fast twitch muscle, showed burst that was rare, and had a knack for the big play. He would have been a nightmare for defenses today just like he was in the early 90's.

He would be a beast on PR/KR duty, too.

His HS tape may be the best I've ever seen from a player from the state of Alabama.

Palmer would have killed it in todays offenses. He had the quickest change of direction I have ever seen. Plus no one could ever get a clean hit on him due to his size .he would make people look stupid trying to tackle him.

Kiffin definitely would have found ways to get him the ball

I think he would have been similar to a guy like Tavon Austin.

Is there going to be an announcement on who is starting tomorrow or are we just waiting until Jake jogs out there for the first drive?

I'd be very surprised if there is an announcement. I think the main reason we don't already know is so that Wisconsin doesn't know. I'm sure Saban and Kiffin also want to give "both guys" a shot, but they know who is trotting out there first, and that will be the guy they feel most comfortable with.
