No. I don't see it. I do see Texas A&M having some offensive success. While the running game might not shine against Alabama, the threat of it will open some plays up. Trevor Knight should also be able to make some plays on the ground. This game won't be Tennessee-Alabama rebooted. But Knight can also turn the ball over, and this is the wrong team to do that against given the way the defense produces offense. Plus, it feels like Alabama is finding itself on offense. This has the look and feel of a special team slowly finding its way.

Still, A&M is quite good. I think the score is reflective of two good teams touching gloves.

Barrett Sallee

No, but I'll certainly take Texas A&M and those points—up to 19.5 in some spots, according to Odds Shark—that Vegas seems to want to hand out. This is a complete Aggie team that leads the SEC in rushing (274.3 YPG), has a mobile quarterback who's making good decisions most of the time and should be better defensively now that it's had a bye week to recover from that wild affair against Tennessee. That said, the work Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has done with that offense—particularly quarterback Jalen Hurts—is stunning. Texas A&M will hang, but a late turnover from Knight will cost the Aggies.

Chris Walsh

No. Texas A&M's best hope for this game was probably for Alabama to be worn down at this point like it was last year while taking advantage of coming off a bye. But Alabama is on a roll, the defense looks incredible the way it's been scoring and the running game is now in gear as well. Most of Alabama's big games over the past couple of years have been away from Tuscaloosa, so the fans, who are still upset about the 2012 loss, will be fired up.

Greg Couch

Short and sweet: No. No way. No chance. A&M might be able to score a lot, though I'll believe that when I see it. And I still think Alabama's offense isn't as dominant as some people might believe. But to go into Alabama with no defense? Forget it.

Michael Felder

It would certainly seem possible given the bevy of ingredients that mirror the 2012 game from the A&M side. A quarterback who can outrun defenders? Check. Talented wide receivers who ?can win 50-50 balls? Check. A coach who's willing to use his quarterback in the run game to create linebacker and safety conflicts that help receivers get open? Check. This game should play into the 40s, which would mean A&M is there late with a shot. However, given Alabama's remarkable ability to score points without ever letting Hurts touch the ball, I'm riding with the Tide.

Scary part of all this support is it reminds me of another game where we were an overwhelming favorite against a top team. WHere even their own ardent fans thought they had no chance in the game. The result turned out very different. Of course I am talking about Oklahoma and the Trevor Knight led team. BUT.
The difference this year is; that was a meaningless game, this game means everything. We are much better equipped to handle the spread type offense Oklahoma mowed us down with and the QB who was a freshman unknown then is a an open book now.
Let the games begin!

We aren't a spread type team anymore than you are though

But (insert meme of Lillte boy with puppy praying) hopefully we can nail some great deep passes and keep the score respectable

Most sites post their predictions on Thursdays so I'll have more to add tomorrow.

I did find it interesting that everyone seems to think Alabama will win, but no one appears to think A&M is going to be blown out.

Texas AM (+18) at Alabama

It’s hard to imagine this one will be as lopsided as ‘Bama’s recent games, but turnover-prone QB Trevor Knight going against the Tide’s touchdown-scoring defense could be a bad combination for the Aggies.

Alabama 37, Texas AM 20.

No. 6 Texas A&M (6-0, 4-0 SEC) at No. 1 Alabama (7-0, 4-0), 3:30 p.m. ET

Last meeting: Alabama won 41-23 at Texas A&M last October.

Texas A&M ranks seventh in the FBS in rushing and has never lost a game under Kevin Sumlin in which it has run for at least 200 yards. Alabama last yielded that much on the ground in the 2015 Sugar Bowl against Ohio State, and this season the Crimson Tide have allowed 447 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Prediction: Alabama 30, Texas A&M 17

SETTLING THE SEC WEST

No. 6 Texas A&M (plus 18½) at No. 1 Alabama

Aggies QB Trevor Knight already has led a team to victory against the Tide. That team was Oklahoma. Nick Saban's teams are excellent at revenge ... ALABAMA 35-20.

quote:

The SEC West could be all but decided Saturday.

Seems like a strong statement, but with three games involving ranked teams it is possible for the leader of the division to exit this weekend with essentially a two-game lead on all the closest contenders with three games to play.

The leader will be determined in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, when the top-ranked Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0) faces No. 6 Texas A&M (6-0, 4-0). The winner will be the only undefeated team left in the Southeastern Conference and the loser will need the winner to lose twice to have a chance to win the West. Not impossible, but any plan that involves Alabama losing two of its last three SEC games seems like a bad plan.

4 Texas A&M at Alabama

When: Saturday, Oct. 22, 3:30 p.m. ET

TV: CBS

Line: Alabama (-16.5)

Bender: Alabama 38-24

Owens: Alabama 35-21

Thomas: Alabama 42-35

Al-Khateeb: Alabama 35-24

MORE: Alabama-A&M keys to victory

What we're saying

Bender: Can Trevor Knight pull off the impossible and beat a Nick Saban-coached team for the second time? That's really the key. Knight and Trayveon Williams have to establish a ground game early to avoid third-and-longs against Alabama's furious pass rush. Same goes for Alabama and Jalen Hurts against Texas A&M's defensive line. The Aggies will hang around early, but Alabama pulls away in the third quarter.

Thanks TideSaint. By the way, I hate to post this, but I don't know how else to communicate to mods. Any idea why the Miller Forristall thread was locked?
