I didn't see anyone talking about this but I thought it was hilarious. Anyone else think Eli reads tRant?

Dont crucify me, but outside of dick riding gary and getting names wrong. Verne Lunquist has the best play by play charisma and vocabulary in sports. 2nd to none. Only other announcer I enjoy listening to is when Ian Darke calls Germany Soccer games. Verne's touchdown Alabama gives me goose bumps

I don't think I have ever read a more accurate statement on this site.

I love Verne. People care way too much about him getting names wrong.

I think Verne is pretty good too. Not as smooth as I'd like him to be though.

I'll be the bad guy but I'm not an Eli Gold fan. Can't really put my finger on it as to why that is, but I've just never been a fan of his.

But we are used to doing that, and no one is going to go on the field

One of my favs, "This AIN'T Kentucky". I think this came from Prothro's last game against Florida. Could this be right?

you are not alone

"he takes it outside, bowls over a couple of defenders, shakes the db, pushes up field, and is tackled for no gain"

My favorite Eli call. I listen to this multiple times every game day. Have it memorized. My friends will ask me to make the call every now and then.

HES GONNA GO! HES GONNA GO! TOUCHDOWN! TJ. YELDON! TJ. YELDON! ON A SCREEN! 28 yards NO flags.

That monologue was perfection

"There are few truths in an uncertain world, but here's one. This ain't Kentucky"

this aint kentucky

Love Verne.
Another of my favorite calls of his was extremely simple. 2009 SECCG, Florida had just seized momentum, cutting our lead to 12-10. Mark Ingram catches a screen pass, Verne gives a matter-of-fact "How 'bout that?" And let's us watch the play develop. Not sure why I like that call so much. And I enjoyed his end of the play comments and post-play comments as well, but can't remember them word for word, so I don't want to butcher them.
