single defender on the pass play, giving the Tech qb all the time he needed to hit the receiver downfield.

What the hell was that about? I hope they don't play that defense vs Ohio State. I'm a devoted Bammer, but I'd like to see Clemson pound OSU.

Don't think they pound Ohio State but I think they win by a touchdown. Looking forward to this game.

Clemson hasn't pounded a halfway decent team all year. Why would they start now?

I might be in the minority here, but I think OSU beats Clemson.

OSU has a elite D and will be able to slow down Clemson on offense.
Clemson's average D won't be able to slow down a good but not great OSU offense.

I guess I am supposed to be offended by "bammer" but I never was.

The origin of that, at least on these boards, was from back in the old Alliance Sports days. A personal friend of mine that went by the nickname of PC Bama, on the old Alliance BOL board, originated the term "barners".

Auburn, being the cow college that it is, lends itself really well to "Allbarn", so their fans were naturally "barners". The Auburn fans, which were only a drop down menu and click away on the Alliance board, in turn called the Bama fans "bammers" as if that was supposed to offend us.

Kind of like the yankees decided that was instead a term of endearment, I turned it around and would often respond with "Rammer Jammer, I'm a Bammer".

I suppose that "bammer" is supposed to imply an uneducated redneck dolt or whatever. Fact is, with a few degrees, I suppose I am at least as educated as most of them. PC Bama, for that matter, was a dentist. He couldn't type for shite, a hunt and pecker as it were, but he had a nearly innate ability to piss off Auburn fans, and back in the early days of these sports boards, that was a game in itself. Another of his favorites was "MooooooAgEwe", which obviously implies not only cow college but an affinity for the sheep.

I miss that guy. PC, TidePride, BamaRed, and all the rest of the devoted bammers that are hanging out with Coach Bryant these days.

He passed away about 5 years ago, and yeah, he was a good man. Funny too.
