For the record, I am very satisfied with his performance this season, so far. This thread was about the aTm game and how he looked in it. I think Kiffin called a poor game and Jalen made it look worse and I hope they all improve and get the downfield passing game working. 1 pass completed over 10 yards is wishbone type numbers and we'll need to be better to beat elite teams. Probably. Hell, maybe not.

This year's Bama offense looks a lot like Auburn's 2013 offense.

I'm guessing you aren't old enough to remember much of the Shula era. Specifically the 2004 season.

Most of the people butthurt on this thread would probably hate being around a guy like Nick Saban who has mentioned after every game how much the passing game is lacking.
Apparently he doesn't think Jalen is passing "extremely well for a true freshman"
I think he's frustrated like myself and others on this thread.
Some of us think like coaches and focus on the negatives. Some think like "Oh boy I'm so thankful for the entertainment! Wow all of our players are just terrific!"
Both types of people love the team, aight?

Hell, if all Hurts has to do is drop it in the flat to OJ and let him pick up yardage, I don't care if he gets a ball completed that is over 10 yards. Just keep sustaining drives and let them end with points.

Hurts accuracy down the field needs work, and I'm hopeful the bye week will help him iron out some timing and touch issues. That said, we also need to remember Hurts has had 3 TD passes dropped. Dieter dropped a long one, and Ridley and Howard both dropped perfect passes in the EZ. Not to mention Ridley has had a couple of big drops on passes that were 20 yards down field. Hurts has been off, but our receivers have also not helped on many of the good deeper passes Hurts has thrown.

Jalen Hurts is the worst passing QB we've started under Saban by far

Might want to look at McElroy's first year. Could he be the worst passer by year's end? Maybe, but it sure as hell isn't by far.

JPW had 10 TD's and 8 INT's his senior year at Alabama and a 57% completion percentage.

So tell me again who is the worst passing QB under Saban?

Yeah, sometimes I forget how bad JPW really was. He'd throw a great ball every now and then to make me forget, but his consistency was terrible. McElroy was somewhat consistent his first year. He just had zero touch on any of his passes. He couldn't not throw a bullet, even on his deep balls.

Thanks for posting.

After watching his play again, I am even more confident in his ability to play QB for us. He made the passes that he had to, and many(most?) of his incompletions were smart throwaways. He basically took what the D gave him, and really had an epic performance.

No, statistical data shows that we are moving the ball fairly well on plays that are counted as passing plays by the NCAA. That doesn't necessarily say much about how accurate the QB is, and I'm saying he's pretty inaccurate. We have fantastic WR's that have made some great plays with bad passes, and we have passes traveling 0 yards through the air that end up being 20+ yard gains. Both are skewing the stats.

You get attacked in here for not ignoring a glaring weakness on the offensive side of the ball. We're all just supposed to pump sunshine nonstop, I guess. No matter where improvement is needed.

THIS is how we end up with fans who threaten our beat writer because he thinks LSU will be a close game.

JPW gave more points to the other team (int for TD, fumble inside our own 20, etc.) than the margin of victory in six or seven games over two years.

In the 2009 NCG against Texas he was 6/11 for a total of 58 yards.

I think people want/expect AJ with Blake Sims legs.

Yeah so to the OP's original point, we completed ONE pass over ten yards in the game.
Jalen completed as many passes to Texas A&M over ten yards as he did to our own receivers.

Has this ever happened in any Alabama game in the past 50 years? One pass over 10 yards the whole game?
