Not referring to you sarge. L5U fans and their conspiracies. You guys are cool. The ref could have punished Mack.

I am sure I can find many posts on here besides other sites that UA fans did. But whatever.

Called and you can be sure every UA fan would be up in arms if that was our player getting hit.

I disagree. The hit on Hurts in the OM game definitely should have been called, and you really didn't hear too much about it, especially compared to the uproar the Mack Truck hit caused.

That's because Lsu fans were demoralized. Now, they're full fire, with piss balloons ready to go.

Personally, I wish their kid had not been flagged for the hit on Harris. I hate all the targeting crap.

I don't like kids getting paralyzed either, so there is a good side of it too. If it makes players reconsider going high on a big hit and just saves one kid from a wheelchair every 10 years, it's worth us all being pissed off I reckon

Count Saban among those who had no issue with the legality of true freshman Mack Wilson’s special-teams hit on Speedy Noil on Saturday, a hit that many deemed to be targeting.

Saban didn’t see it that way.

“It was a great hit,” Saban said. “I know some people made something about that it was targeting, but it’s not unprotected player. The guy’s running with the ball.

“We always tell our players we want you to lower your target and see what you hit even when you tackle so that we don’t get in those situations, but that wasn’t a foul because it wasn’t an unprotected player.”

I'm guessing the white object that goes flying thru the air is one of the snaps from his chin strap that attaches the strap to the right side (the lower one by ear hole) of the helmet.

Just looking at this gif, it looks difficult to me to figure out how else Mack was supposed to tackle him. He was trying to go low, but that makes his head come forward, etc. He is trying to wrap up, also causing his head to go forward.
Noil somewhat dropped his head, but after Mack committed.

It should have been called, but even if it were it would have still been worth it. Best hit of the year.

Could have been called 15 yards for helmet to helmet, but definitely not targeting.
A ball carrier is not a defenseless player.

Here is why its not targeting. Aggie player was not defenseless, so it can only be targeting if wilson led with the crown, which he didn't (open to interpretation). The refs didn't consider it to be the crown, so that's that. Even if had been the crown there are other conditions that have to be met for it to be targeting on a non defenseless player, such as launching...moot point here because this was a sidelong blow. Now the reason the hit on harris was targeting was because he was defenseless, blocked helmet to helmet while blinded by a hand to the face, could not protect himself. It would have been targeting if the a&m player had not used his helmet, rule specifies helmet, shoulder, forearm, when the player is defenseless. On that play the a&m player launched, helmet to helmet, on a defenseless player.

Maybe Sumlin just wants the footage so he can teach his team what wrapping up looks like.
