Just watched the neighborhood sportscenter top 10 plays...#4 was an Alabama commit kicking a 73 yard field goal. The record for longest field goal in the nfl is 64 yards I believe.

Very impressive...Although it is certainly different doing it in an actual game. Maybe he was kicking with the wind too it looks pretty cloudy like its about to storm...regardless that's an extremely long kick. Said he used to be a soccer player.

Here is the video

So what do you guys think about our kickers/overall special teams unit?

JK Scott is a boss so no worries there....

Adam Griffith though...wasn't he pretty highly regarded coming out of high school?
He has gone 12/19 so far at Alabama. You can't expect to make every kick but man I wish we had a reliable kicker. For instance Tiffin went 30/35 in 09. After that Arkansas game in 06 or 07 whatever it was I never thought I'd use Tiffin and reliable in the same sentence lol. He is proof that you can turn it around after a bad start though.

Do you think it's a personnel issue? Coaching issue? Does Bobby Williams have embarrassing nudes of Saban causing Saban to keep him around?

Either way I hope Somebody steps up though. Kicking is mostly mental so I feel we need to change something because it has not been up to par these past few years. Whether that be our approach to kicking in practice or changing coaches i'm not really sure what the answer is.

thoughts?

Wish he would have been on the roster in 2013.

Bobby Williams is one of the best over talent evaluators on the staff. Saban trusts his judgement on a recruit. That's why he is here.

Adam was hurt last year. He didn't practice all week only kicked on Saturday mornings. As long as he is healthy (which he supposedly is) we will be fine. He hadn't missed a kick until he got hurt (broken back)

I wish this other kid would stop posting these long shot videos. He is setting the expectations to an almost impossible level.

Didn't know he had broken his back..that could certainly set you back. Well im rooting for him. Hard not to when you hear his story growing up.

I don't really have a problem with the guy posting videos though. Not much football stuff going on...Nobody is gonna expect him to hit anything like that. I mean the nfl record is 64 yards I'm sure its even less in college. No way he is hitting anything close to that in a game.

Yeah... the guy kicking off for us in 98&99 actually hit a 61 harder in a h.s. game, never attempted a fg while a bama if I remember correctly.

Completely agree.

Unless the back turns into a chronic issue, I Adam Griffith will have a very good career at Bama. With the injury he had, it is amazing he did as well as he did down the stretch last season.
