Could Bama still be left out with a win over MSU?

while unlikely it seems like the committee is looking for a reason to keep Bama out of the top 4. Is it possible we remain at 5 or only rise to 4 with a win over MSU?

Win out and probably #1.

Everyone keeps saying that but how do we know for sure? We just assume that our record would speak for itself but it seems clear that the committee is going to do whatever it wants.

Nope

They can still say Bama doesn't have a "signature" win

Ole Miss beat Bama then lost to AU

Bama beat the piss out of aTm who then beat AU

This weekend a W is a MUST if Bama is to make the PO

If they win Bama will be #2 in their ranking next week despite what anyone else does

If Bama wins a game like they just did against LSU, the highest they'll move to is 4.
That's providing the others perform well. Remember, FSU has Miami, so that will look impressive.
If Bama dominates, they should jump up to 3, leapfrogging a TCU team, who plays Kansas.
Oregon is off.

This is not complicated, and I don't know why some fans are worried.

Win out and we're in.

If we don't, we're not.

Plain and simple.

TCU has zero quality opponents left. Not a one with a winning record. We'll jump TCU if we beat MSU 3-2, IMO.

How would this even happen? There'd be no way to justify moving anyone ahead of us after having beaten #1 and there's no way State would remain ahead of us.

Fsu is only two spots ahead of us as it is and the committee doesn't have miami in their top 25, beating number one will get us to 3rd at the absolute worst. It would likely be Oregon, FSU, Bama, TCU respectively. If we beat MSU in a close game, they'll jump TCU with an egg bowl win. The committee is throwing TCU a bone, but they don't have the schedule left to hold serve. It's already been said and its absolutely true, but win out and we're in, lose and we aren't. It's very simple. The only playoff ranking that matters is the one after championship Saturday.

If you want my honest opinion I'd much rather be ranked 2nd or 3rd and draw Florida State in the first round.

The ranking next week still doesn't mean anything. If Bama wins out then that means we win the conference. A one loss SEC champion is in, no question or debate.

Logically, yes, if we win out we should be in. But how do we know for sure? We just beat LSU on the road which has ALWAYS been a big deal, and now we get jumped by a TCU team with a crap SOS? That makes no sense.

This.

MSU had an evenly balanced schedule getting LSU, Auburn, Bama, and Ole Miss spread out.

Our schedule is back heavy. If both teams won out to 11-1 our schedule would crush theirs.

WV+ our ooc >>>>>> their ooc

Tenn/UF> UK/Vandy

We both competed in the SEC west so the only win they have over us would be Ole Miss (9-3) best case if MSU wins. We would have the H2D over MSU (11-1) which would also be a better win.

Plus a potential extra victory over a (9-4) or (10-3) UGA or Mizzou.

The committee has picked very safely thus far except TCU/Baylor which could end in a shite show if they finish 4th and 5th.

everybody keeps saying, win out and we're in. i'm not so sure about that. so far this committee has done whatever is necessary to keep bama out of the top 4.

1st week, they completely ignored ole miss getting beat the saturday before the poll. the only thing that mattered was ole miss beat bama.

2nd week, oregon beat an already 2 loss stanford that was still ranked in the top 25.

3rd week, tcu gets style points for beating a team the barn had already beat. plus tcu's 1 point win over wvu was bigger than bama's 10 point win.

given the committee's established track record. i'm not holding my breathe on them putting bama in even if we win out.

If we beat miss st, auburn, and whoever from the east, there is no way we finish lower than 2. Nobody else will have nearly as good a resume. If they do contrive to leave us out it will destroy the credibility of the committee in the very first year and we will be doing it some other way in a few short years. Putting oregon at 2 at this point had already damaged their credibly

bama was 4, tcu was 30 something, but tcu has a better resume. ?????? common core math is the only explanation i got.

Because right now a reasonable person could argue that we should be ranked #5. If we win out, that will no longer be the case. There are plenty of things to worry about in this world but this isn't one of them.
