He will play football at Utah but will be a walk on......and a WR. Multiple people have reported it and Cecil Hurt retweeted something about it if y'all want to see it for yourself.

I'm stunned by this. I guess no one wanted him as a QB

That can't be right. Before last season people were talking about how good of a QB he was

It's crazy to think he almost beat out Coker

I really don't think it was that close. Yeah he got to start against Ole Miss but I don't think it was bc Coker was doing bad. I think it was one of two things: 1. We started Cooper to use a special package that Ole Miss wouldn't be ready for (like the coaches said) or 2. Saban knew Coker was the QB but wanted to put a little pressure and fire up under him to make him even better so he benched him

Coker and Kiffin didn't get along very well either.

Maybe it was idk. It's possible Cooper had some offers to play QB at group of five teams but just wanted to play for his home state team

I'm sure he could have gotten a scholarship somewhere.

makes no sense why he left Bama to be a walk on in mormon land

Probably thinks he at least has a shot at winning the job. His only chance to start at Bama was injuries to Hurts and maybe others.

Makes a little bit of sense. He is from there. He clearly wanted to move back to where his family and friends reside, even if it meant being a walk-on. He probably grew up going to Ute games. It will be a cool experience for him.

From everything I've read, he is going as a WR and has no shot at being the QB. Maybe he just hopes to start at WR now. I don't blame him. I'd rather start at another position than sit on the bench.

Bateman moved to WR during spring ball one year to test it out. I know he was always considered one of the better athletes on the team.

Hopefully it all works out for him.

It actually makes perfect sense.

explain thyself. A walk on by definition is going to start out low on the depth chart. UTAh like Bama plays big boy FB. IF he has the speed to be a WR then he has the speed to run the new Bama offense. I wish him luck but there had to be schools that would have brought him in to compete as a QB.

This is all about a girl and that is my lame reasoning.

Some of us tried to explain to folks here that Bateman wasn't capable of being a starting QB for Bama.
