He should have had another to a wide open Ridley on an almost identical play, except he didn't throw it.

Coker would be shooing away interviews about his pro prospects if he weren't so trigger shy at the right time and pass-happy at the wrong time. Sad he didn't get more starts, even though I loved Sims last year.

I'm not sure what it looked like on tv, but find that play and look for Ridley deep. He was waving his arms and no one was in the same zip code. Coker could have lobbed it to him and Ridley could have walked in.

Ok man, we get it. He missed a wide open Ridley, copy that.

I've loved our last 4 QBs (GMAC, AJ, Sims, and Coker), but I'm not sure there is one I've been happier for than Coker.

Grew up an Alabama fan, stuck with his commitment to FSU when we offered, the chance for him to come here opened up and he worked to graduate in time to get here. He came in and competed, and now this year he's unbeaten as a starter and on his way to the SEC Championship Game. He's tough and you can tell he refuses to lose. Incredibly happy for that guy.

I said it in the game thread already, but I just warming up my car to go run his arse over, but he turned a complete catastrope into a TD. Gotta give it to him. He may not be the best QB, but damn if he isn't the toughest son of a bitch. Evaded two rushers, kept his eyes down field, and made a fantastic throw.

we get it, coker finds an acorn every now and then. but by and large, he sux as a d1 qb. not only does he miss wide open receivers. he throws the ball in the dirt behind a wr a step from the goal line. he continues to zero in on a wr that only catches 1 of every 3 or 4 balls that hit his hands. hes the slowest ive ever seen on a quick hitter. he takes far too many sacks when he could throw the ball away.

it hurts my fandom to think how awesome this offense could be with a competent qb

Then turn in your fan card and find a new team. We're the #2 team in the country and we are playing for another SEC title, so shut up.

Personally, I've loved seeing Coker overcome his limitations by laying it all on the line. The kid is all heart, which is what college football should be about.

The sucky D1 QB was wearing a blue jersey last night. Coker is a competent QB and a fierce competitor. The fact that he isn't another AJ doesn't make him another JJ either.

I agree. Then why do we seem to call those 7-10 times a game? That's not his fault; that's on Kiffin.

He misses some "easy" throws that I think AJ made routinely.

But that scramble/pass on the run was about as good as it gets--I don't know if AJ could have pulled that off.

Congrats to Coker he definitely is a tough guy, could have used him in the iron bowl game there 10 years ago.

Let's be real Coker is very inconsistent. No reason to hate on fans for calling that out. Coker is going to HAVE to make some plays down the stretch or it's going to be a short post season run. That's all there is too it.

We can't afford wasted plays. i.e. throw behind the receiver on a slant. Throw 4 foot too high and have our WRs get hurt.

Coker's bad plays

1.) Multiple throws behind the receivers. Including throw on a slant behind Mullaney on goal line
2.) Slow release on multiple screens
3.) Dropped Pick 6 by Blake Countess
4.) High throw to ArDarius (who bailed him out)

However, he DID make a few big plays last night and that's all he has to do.

1.) Throw to Ridley, splitting the dbl coverage for 40+ yards. (46?)
2.) Dropped TD pass to ArDarius Stewart
3.) Scramble to make it 4th and 1 on 3rd and long in the 3rd Quarter
4.) Scramble to TD to ArDarius Stewart

And of course not all of it is on Coker.

ArDarius had a shitty game too. Dropped a TD and failed the execution on a wheel route (never looked back)

ETA: I don't know if that wheel route was on Coker or not. I believe Stewart was open down field, Stewart realized this and Coker still threw it short rather than looking down field.
