I've been pretty hard on him, but I think there's something to be said that the guy has spent 2-3 years of fight for and losing jobs. He's never had a chance to really take command of the offense. He has always been splitting reps. Now it's all his.

That fist pump after Ridley's TD seemed like it was the sign that he knew that he'd finally broken through. Was great to see.

I was happy to see him have a good genuine smile for a change.

I was defending him on here. Honestly didn't think his Ole Miss performance merited the torches and pitchforks treatment.

I agree. Seemed like there was an emotional rock lifted off his shoulders on that long strike.

Add that with the fact that he had more freedom at the line to change the play, and I think we may have ourselves a quarterback.

the ball was coming out of his hands with serious authority on saturday. it was crazy that his first 2 incompletions were a great pass to stewart for about 30 yards that he dropped, and then a throw away because no one was open. he was literally perfect for like the entire first half

he's gaining confidence and it's showing on the field.

he'd be well served to forget that stewart is on the field.

And in the rain too. He had some real zip on the ball and the bomb to Ridley was just beautiful. Too bad Stewart couldn't come through for him, he killed to drives. We need another reliable receiver going forward because Stewart just isn't it.

I think the guy just needs to play as much as possible and get as much gametime experience as possible.....he will settle in

Lets hope that is the case. I would like to see some of the other guys though. I know Keif isn't a burner per say, but I would like to see him get more snaps. He could replace Slotty Pippen (Mullaney) next year.

Could that play be the turning point of the season?

one of the most interesting things about Coker to me, and a point I wanted to address with you guys is Coker's running ability.

Now, obviously he is somewhere on the spectrum between Cam Newton and Zach Mettenberger. But I think Coker's ability to use his legs is one of his better attributes. He's made some good plays with his feet, whether it's scrambling and making a throw or just running for the first down. The bootleg TD was a thing of beauty. I have believed since the spring that the staff needs to call plays to allow Coker to use his legs. I feel that when he runs successfully, he gains confidence. Now obviously we don't want him running the ball 15 times a game, but I'd be ok with 5. If it becomes something defenses have to think about, it will open up a lot of downfield passes and maybe some runs. If they don't want to respect him, that bootleg should be there all day.

What do you guys think about Coker running with the ball?

That throw in the middle of the field to Mullaney in the 1st Q looked like a different QB threw it. His throwing motion was sped up and fluid, and he threw it with confidence. Looked beautiful. And he did that all game for the most part.

Hats off to Coker, helluva performance in the rain.

it also keeps them for crashing down the DEs on henry, which is how he gets stopped early most of the time. that was what was frustrating about how bateman was playing against ole miss on the option plays. ole miss knew he was not going to pull it and run no matter what, so it was easy to defend. i kept waiting for us to abuse that and have bateman break a 40 yard run, never happened

While I will say that the throws he did make that were slick, the Mulaney and Ridley throws specifically, he needs to improve his speed to open receivers. The other throw to Ridley looked like such a slow pass that it is lucky Ridley was so wide open or that may be incomplete. He had another pass or two to wide open receivers that needed more zip.

It is awesome to see him finally seeing those open receivers and also to see him hitting the deep ball for a TD.

I will also say that Mulaney is the sure-handed catcher we needed this year. He's Norwood'ing this season for the most part and it's awesome to see.

he is a first year starter, hope he can take some confidence from this game and move forward. Big thing for him is he had time to step in to some deep throws. He still needs to recognize that UGA left some picks on the field for him and clean that up. Still a long way to go but it is important to finally have a solid game to point to and grow from. Cautiously optimistic here, but the team needs to recognize that they have to maintain supreme focus to see the same results.

I still believe we would have won the Ole Miss game if he had started and played the entire way through.

The interception Bateman threw would never have happened.
