Coach Freshwater adjustments

I know a lot of people get extremely frustrated with his play calling, and I'm one them. With that said as frustrating as his first half play calling was his halftime adjustments were great. It could have been Saban crawling up his butt, but it was good to see us willing to completely change our approach in order to get the job done.

Im done with Lane.
25 passes in the first half. The guy is a double agent.

But if we'd been trying to pound the ball from the get go, those plays probably wouldn't have worked as well as in the 2nd half. Even those pass plays, jet sweeps, screens, runs to the wide side, even those that don't gain much yardage, are effective to some degree by making the defense defend the whole field. If their offense could move the ball, then it would be some different, but since they could not do that, their defense was some worn out and tired by the 2nd half.
That said, I was also frustrated by the 1st half, and particularly the 2nd quarter.

that is all well and good but it should not take 30 minutes to see that.

These fumbled sweep passes are frustrating.

He's the best play caller Alabama has had under Saban.

We had 30 pts and 500 yards against a defense that gives up about 15 pts and 300 yards a game. And it easily could have been 34 had Jalen seen a wide open Stewart before the half, which ain't exactly the OCs fault.
We had 250 yards at halftime.
I mean, what are we looking for here?

The lack of points in the first half wasn't Kiffin's fault, imo, so much as the turnovers and plays for negative yards. That stretch of plays in the 2nd quarter, when we seemed intent on screwing up, was especially frustrating.

The offense was making Auburn run side line to side line in the first half. I think the plan was to wear them down and pound the rock more in the second half. Just my two cents.

We do the same everything pretty much every game.....run opposing defenses side line to sideline and then pound on them second half
What was frustrating about yesterday in the first half was the lack of focus, execution, blown asignments, etc.

Garbage. First off, we have an overwhelming talent advantage over every team we play. My wife could call plays and we'd score 35+ a game. Let's not give Lane more credit than he's due.
Second, you can have mismatches by putting the defense in a phone book and running right at them. Not every mismatch is by "spreading the field". Our OL is much better at hat on hat drive blocking. Why we don't do this almost exclusively is beyond me. (Don't get me started on the shotgun formation.)
Thirdly, this notion of "Lane runs wide to make them defend the whole field to set up the run game in the second half" is bullshite. You're not wearing anyone out by going 3 & out or fumbling in these early drives. And for those defending the jet sweep action by claiming it reduces backside pursuit; stop. The mere fact we have a running threat at QB negates the backside pressure. Jet sweep just slows down the RB (who is already taking the ball at a dead stop in the shotgun) and allows early penetration.

Call Nick and tell him because he has said everything you just called garbage several times. Clearly he is slipping and you should set him straight.

Sounds like you have it figured out. I would urge you to contact St. Nick Saban.

They're getting close to them virtually every game.
No, the issue is simply some of our fans just don't like Kiffin so whenever a play doesn't score or at least go for big yardage they suddenly know more that the guy that is about to be calling plays for the 3rd straight SEC title and playoff game.

Auburn has a good defense guys and so does Florida. It's not like we can just run up and down the field on them. I get frustrated with Kiffin too though and might have asked him to run the ball or get on a plane to LSU during the game a couple of times.

Agreed! He gets "cute" at times, but that is all apart of what makes Kiffin who he is. He has worked wonders on Offense considering the fact he was given a 5th year senior QB (Sims would have forced to move full time to another position years ago or asked to transfer at any other school); a QB with two left feet and an inconsistent arm (Jake Coker had his moments prior to the playoffs where he looked horrible for a 5th year QB); a true freshman who is careless at times and needs help reading the field; and an O-Line that isn't as good as the previous years.

Our offense had 28.57% more negative plays than auburn's offense vs our defense. If you fundamentally see no issue here, i can't have a serious discussion. I get not every play is a winner, but 9 for a loss is questionable at best.
