Solid assistants from good programs have succeeded in this league for a long time. I'd much rather hire a well known, well respected assistant from the Cohen or Mainieri tree than somebody with no ties to the Southeast.
Thank you Mr. Byrne

I read somewhere that Bohannon is considered a top 5 recruiter in the country?

Also, lets fix his teeth.
our football coach gets made fun of for his height, that doesn't seem to help the other teams against him. Don't care what he looks like.

Those teeth bring in the recruits.
And apparently his wife.

According to an "insider" on BOL, South Carolina really wanted Bohannon too so it appears we beat them to the punch.

Nice - I'm excited. Solid, safe, well respected hire who is super experienced at the highest levels in the SEC.
Let's go.
Let's go.

Who do we have to kill, frick or bribe to get a lottery in the state of Alabama?
I'm sick and tired of being screwed over by that shite.

A lottery would be nice but it would be much easier to get UA to change their policy on out of state tuition. Our competition in the league without a lottery has. That makes a big difference when you are offering an out of state kid a partial scholarship
I posted in the 3rd post in this thread that I thought it was Bohannon's job to take or not.
Glad to be right this time. We got a good 'un.
If we don't get back to the postseason in two years, I'll take a ban.
I think this shows we have a damn good baseball coach and an even better AD.

I'll be amazed if Alabama spends 30 million dollars on a baseball complex, then hires an assistant coach...but I've been amazed before.

I've been bitching about a lottery since I was old enough to vote.
Back in the 90s, this old hag down the street from my grandmother, and all of the old hags friends voted "no" to the lottery. Then they proceeded to load their old asses up on a charter bus and head to Mississippi to gamble. I exploded. It still pisses me off to this day . fricking idiots

Not only is it a nice hire for us, it's a nut punch to Auburn's recent success. Nice twofer there

Would be nice but way too much $$$$ that UA would lose just to help a handful of baseball players, golfers and track & fielders. We can't lower out-of-state tution for student-athletes without also doing it for regular students.
It sucks but not really anything the program can do about it expect have great facilities (finally check that box) and hire the right coaches and outwork opponents.

This shite happened in Mississippi too. Say no to a lottery but go to Vicksburg or Biloxi to gamble.

Those people still sadly exist today. And of course Alabama legislators are too corrupt to pass one, unless it goes straight to the general fund.
This state desperately needs a good leader.

Be patient. Charles Barkley is on his way.

Tom, I get what you are saying, but why can't we do it for all the students. If the Mississippi schools can afford to do it, you're telling me we can't?? Attendance figures are at an all time high. We can't at least exempt surrounding states (MS, TN, GA, FL and maybe LA from out of state tuition?
I'll gladly admit some of my concern is for selfish reasons as I am in that boat. My daughter would love to attend Bama but we live in Panama City. She's not quite good enough as a swimmer to get Bama's attention. She's getting some DIII interest for her swimming as a rising sophomore but that's all. She might get an academic ride since her GPA is 4.37 in AP/Honors courses but if she doesn't, that's going to be a helluva bill. And she has told me she'd rather go to a big school like Bama and give up swimming than go to a small DIII school. Maybe that will change but that's how she feels now. And if nobody did it, I get it. No problem. But MOST of the states around Alabama do give that break. Alabama may be cheating itself out of some great students because they are being cheap/greedy. Yeah, I've got a dog in this fight but our competition is using that quirk to kick our arse in sports where we're already at a disadvantage. We don't need to make it any harder on ourselves than it already is.
