Watch these AJ Brown highlights:

Beast

I think he's better than Gavin. The recruiting sites agree. He's ranked a lot higher than Gavin by almost every service.

ETA: That's my alma mater he blew by on the first play.

Going back a bit, but here are a couple nuggets on AJ Brown from this Summer:

quote:

*Starkville (Miss.) High School native A.J. Brown also moved up to a spot right outside the Top100 and he's another guy that has been dominant this offseason on the camp circuit. Though he got hurt on the first day, Brown was looking like one of the top receivers at the event through one day because of his competitive demeanor and his physicality. Mississippi State and Ole Miss have Crystal Ball picks in but Alabama is chasing as well.

5. The playmaker — Going into the event, I was really excited to see more of Devin Duvernay. The speedy Sachse wide receiver had his moments, but the biggest standout wide receiver with a Texas offer was Starkville (MS) product A.J. Brown. The four-star prospect was Shane Buechele’s go-to wide receiver during 7-on-7 play before an injury sidelined him. Brown can flat out go up and get it. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder punished corners with his physicality and always caught the ball at its highest point. Brown also ran great routes and developed some nice chemistry with Buechele, who spent some time at The Opening advocating for Texas. Brown told me he wants to make an official visit to Austin in the fall. This vine should tell you everything you need to know about Buechele and Brown’s connection.

Top Three Offense

1. A.J. Brown - A showstoppper early and often Thursday, using his size to out-muscle defensive backs and win the jump ball battle. If not for a shoulder injury in the final pool play game, Brown would have likely been listed above. He was mostly unguardable, running clean routes, getting in and out of his breaks, and creating separation to get open for intermediate and deep catches. Rarely did he have to use his body to haul the ball in, displaying good concentration and body control in the air. A star on the baseball field as well, Brown has MLB teams lining up to bring him in for workouts, but chances are, Dan Mullen will get a shiny new toy to employ at outside receiver.

One of the best players at the camp regardless of position was Starkville (Miss.) High's A.J. Brown. His speed was evident when he was burning the top defensive backs in attendance, attacks the ball well and is really good at the top of his routes. Mississippi State is the Crystal Ball favorite. He says Alabama is recruiting him the hardest.

AJ Brown looks eerily similar to Amari Cooper on the field.

Don't know about Warrior, but in the circles of people that I get info from, they are yelling bloody murder to the high seas about Thunder Thornton and the Folsom's being back in business with a vengeance. You may be right about Warrior since I'd forgotten he's a legacy, but don't give me any of this defending other programs on the $ allegation business. I can assure you you'll be made to look stupid if you try to defend either Ole Miss (as one guy on here did weeks ago) or UT currently. None of that's to say Butch isn't a good recruiter. He probably is. And they have also gotten lucky with the obscene number of legacies in a 2-3 year span. But when they decided they were tired of losing, they meant it.

He'll certainly wind up in the top 100 before it's all said and done if he keeps performing like he has. Maybe top 50.

They don't just want Warrior they also want the number one CB from next year,Deangelo Gibbs. Thats why they have put together a a package for four players from his team. They even painted their faces onto the rock they use as a billboard on campus. Warrior even though a legacy was not a lock for them,he is very interested in Georgia and Alabama. That may have changed after this package offer.
Reminder: the 5star receiver they got last year Preston Williams was an Alabama legacy.

Preston never had Interest in us and I believe even said something that was negative about UA during his recruitment

Michail Carter, who is one of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects, doesn’t have a list of favorite schools right now.

The 4-star defensive tackle from Jackson High School also doesn’t know which schools will get official visits, but when he does decide that, two SEC schools will definitely be on that list.

“I can say — off the bat — Georgia and Alabama will get one,” Carter told the AJC on Thursday.

Right now, it seems like it is a two-team race to land Carter. When asked if that was the case, he answered “somewhat.”

Jackson plans to announce his commitment sometime after his senior season.

In the video above, Carter explains what he likes about both UGA and Alabama and tells the special message he received from last year’s No. 1 prospect, Bulldogs defensive tackle Trent Thompson.

LOL @ the arrogance of the Mississippi folks in the Nigel Knott thread on the SEC Recruiting board. It's the most bizarre dynamic on this entire site, IMO. I mean you have Arrogance... and you have fans of Ole Miss and Mississippi State. What the heck? Are Vandy fans going to begin talking smack next?

They have begun to think that no one can take away a Mississippi recruit away from them.Conveniently forgetting why these players are going to their school.Hope we re-establish our roots there this year and show them they don't own these kids.Need to get Simmons/Knott/Davis or Brown and go and get the 2017 kids next year.

Yea absolutely no one is going to be made to look stupid by calling out posters who insinuate schools are paying recruits. If those schools are playing recruits we are too. There is no moral superiority in recruiting. It's a bullshite whiny accusation that you or anyone else can't prove. If you or anyone could, people would tell the NCAA and get people in trouble.

If you mean.. do I have a copy of the paper trail? Of course not. But boosters run their mouths a lot these days. They realize that the NCAA is toothless. I'm not even saying we don't pay recruits. But to pretend that it isn't going on at a fevered pitch at a handful of places more than others is burying your head into the sand. If you want to do that, have at it. What does it even matter anyway, though? It is what it is, and nobody's going to do anything about it anyway.I've not been complaining about it. I'm just stating that it is a reality.

TJ Simmons had 162 yards receiving and a touchdown last night. That's a little over 310 yards and 3 TDs in 2 games this season. Not a bad start.

Ok well if that's the case we should start paying more so we can pull these recruits from those places.

It just sounds whiny and beneath Alabama fans to throw around the paid accusations especially after we have endured those for years.
