Thaddeus Moss, 2016 3-Star Tight End

Alabama’s quest for another tight end could come in the form of an NFL legacy, something that has been sort of a theme for the Crimson Tide’s recruiting efforts lately.

Randy Moss’ son, Thaddeus, got an offer from Alabama this week. Thaddeus Moss is a tight end who is most comfortable split out wide—exactly the kind of tight end Alabama needs to snag in this cycle.

“On film, Moss makes for an impressive flex tight end,” Bleacher Report’s Damon Sayles wrote in February. “He can line up as an H-back, but his strengths are lining up wide and posing a problem for smaller defensive backs. Like his father, he likes making the catch at its highest point.”

Moss prefers not to do interviews, so it’s hard to get a read on where his recruitment is heading. His offer list has picked up steam lately, with schools like Michigan, Georgia and Oregon jumping in the mix.

For now, Moss has one more year left at Victory Christian in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his dad serves as defensive coordinator.

If Alabama can land Moss, and he’s anything like his dad, Alabama will be set at the tight end position for a couple of more years.

Jedrick Wills, 2017 4-Star Offensive Tackle

As reported by Scout's Brian Eldridge, Alabama started the week on Monday by offering the top player in the state of Kentucky who could develop into a bookend tackle one day.

It will be hard to get Wills out from his hometown Kentucky Wildcats, but as he gets more and more attention on the recruiting trail, he could start to pursue other options. Alabama has certainly shown a track record of getting its offensive linemen to the next level.

Mario Cristobal was in town to see another player, but Wills’ high school coach, Eric Shaw, turned Cristobal on to his rising junior tackle.

“(Cristobal) came by to see me this morning and talk to me a little bit,” Shaw told 247Sports’ Hank South. “Everyone is stopping by to see my soon-to-be senior Landon Young. I told him I wanted to show him Jedrick, and afterwards he told me to put them in the mix for him.”

Shaw thinks that the 6’5”, 300-pound Wills could continue to get bigger:

He has great feet to be 6'5", 310 pounds. I think he has the opportunity to be even bigger. He just turned 16 yesterday, he’s still growing and I think at the end of the day he might be 6’7” or 6’8”. He has very long arms and very good speed. He’s very aggressive, and he plays to his size. There are a lot of guys throughout the country that have the size and the strength, but they don’t have that nastiness to them, but he has it all.

Shaw also added that he thinks Alabama will be near the top of Wills' list when he starts to trim it down.

West Orange dual-threat quarterback Woody Barrett sets announcement date
BY RECRUITINGGURU · MAY 20, 2015

On Wednesday West Orange High School’s standout quarterback Woody Barrett set his announcement decision date. On June 3 the 6’2”, 225 pound, prospect is expected to verbally commit after receiving 11 scholarship offers from top programs nationwide.

The Warriors finished the 2014 season 12-2 with Barrett at the helm drawing national attention from programs like Clemson, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina along the way. The two schools believed to be competing for the dual-threat’s commitment are Auburn and Alabama.

West Orange head coach Bob Head stated in early May that Barrett had “narrowed down it down to about four or five schools” with “Alabama and Auburn being the leaders right now.” Barrett has unofficially visited both schools with Tigers’ offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee visiting the school last week and is expected to attend the Warriors spring game in Gainesville next week. The Texas Longhorns have attempted to stay in consideration sending Chris Vaughn to West Orange on May 18.

247Sports rates Barrett as a 4-star and Rivals rates him as a 3-star.

Neither Alabama nor Auburn currently has a quarterback verbally committed to their 2016 recruiting class.

Potential 2015 sleeper: Alabama
7h
Greg Ostendorf, ESPN Staff Writer

For the past week on the SEC blog we've taken a look at one player on each team who could be a sleeper in 2015 -- a player who might not be getting a lot of buzz now but could have a significant impact on his team's fortunes this season.

Alabama

Sleeper: Robert Foster, wide receiver

Why: Foster isn’t used to the term sleeper. He was ranked the No. 25 overall recruit in the ESPN 300 when he signed with Alabama and had offers from just about every major school in the country, so he’s more accustomed to the term star. But after redshirting in 2013, Foster had just six catches for 44 yards last season, and he’s yet to make a catch in an SEC game. He hasn’t quite lived up to the hype early in his career, but that could all change in 2015. Alabama will be without its top three wide receivers from last season, including Heisman Trophy finalist Amari Cooper. In fact, no returning player had more than 17 receptions last season. That means this could be the year Foster finally breaks through.

Fellow receivers ArDarius Stewart and Chris Black are expected to play and possibly start, but at 6-foot-2, 194 pounds, Foster brings a different element. He has the speed to blow past defenses, and he also has the size and athleticism to go up and get the ball at its highest point. He showed off that ability in the spring game when he finished with six catches for a team-high 125 yards. For now, he’s still a sleeper. But don’t be surprised if he’s a star by the end of the season.

I'm just going to say, it annoys and troubles me to see ya'll cutting down a former player like that, especially one that helped us win 2 NCs and 2 SECCs.

I know you guys don't care how it makes me feel, but it does disappoint me.

Carry on.

2013 Miami signee 6 foot 7 " WR Derrick Griffin may visit this weekend. Eligible immediately. High 4*/borderline 5* recruit. Was at Houston College this past year not playing football. Considered to have the most upside among any WR in that class. He's a freak. Not sure why he wasn't playing football.

I should add that he was also considered a very good basketball recruit. Was said to play "above the rim" and more like a 6'9" or 6'10" guy. We certainly haven't had one like that at UA. Would be a superb compliment to Ridley, Stewart, Foster, Black, Thompson, etc.. for the next few yrs. He also has 5 to play 4. Supposedly Texas A&M has been dragging their feet. Might have opened the door for us.
