WHAT'S NEXT FOR SCOUT'S NO. 2 ATHLETE?

Scout's No. 2 athlete Demetris Robertson recently de-committed from Alabama and he is back on the market. Why open back up? Where is he now? How was his visit to UGA last week? Why is a Pac-12 school in the mix? Get all the answers here...
Demetris Robertson committed to Alabama last summer before his junior year and it surprised some.
He continued to visit other schools and his recruitment was far from over.
The No. 2 athlete in the country on Scout recently backed off his commitment to the Crimson Tide and put his name officially back on the market.
The in-state Georgia Bulldogs have never slowed down their recruitment of Robertson, a star at Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Christian and he was in Athens last week for a visit. He talks about that, why he opened things back up, if Alabama is still in the mix, who he plans to visit this summer, his interest in Stanford, and more in this interview.

I hope we find a way to get him. He will be a difference maker.

Still some rumors out there about Braxton Miller to UA.
Classes start tomorrow. We will get to put all this to rest soon.

Louisville got a nice QB commit today. Will #Auburn get one next week when Woody Barrett announces? Arrow pointing that way right now.
Sorry, Saint.

Saban going after the under the radar guys who want to work their asses off, a la 2008? I like it.
We keep telling ourselves this. I hope it's true.

So you actually think that his staff suddenly can't recruit at a level it has been?
Posted on 5/26/15 at 7:46 am to CapstoneGrad06
Of course not. I trust Coach Saban, but the man isn't infallible. This class is just different than what we are used to, and I hope they succeed. Not really an outlandish statement.

Like Julio? Hightower was a 4*, so was Ingram. Dareus was a 3* in some places, but a 4* in others. I'm not sure who the under the radar guys are you're talking about. That class was top 3 in every service.

Cody
Brad Smelly
Damion Square
Dareus
These are the three stars that made any noise out of that class.

That class can be ranked whatever and just shows you how off those sites really are. First 247 did not exist back then. The main site was Rivals followed 2nd by Scout. Rivals had Dareus, Lester, and Cody as 3 stars, Scout had Ingram a 3 star and Smelly a 2 star. The class ranked high because of 5 stars like T Love and B Scott who were bust and many 4 stars who never made it to campus because of MLB(Hood, Ray), grades, or later transferred out like Star Jackson. If we look back overall it may be one of the weakest classes in overall talent by the time the class graduated.
The true strength of that class were the under the radar guys, the blue collar not blue chip players. Only one site even had Ingram as a RB IIRC and they ranked him at 58th in the class. Hightower was a 4 star but a low 4 star, like the 15th ILB and 27th DE.

This seems like revisionist history to fit a narrative. That class had a lot of hype that started the ball rolling. It certainly had key contributors that were under the radar, but every class Saban has signed had those guys to some degree.

Danny Kanell was hinting at message board rumors of him transferring on SportsCenter. I think he stays, but when will we **OFFICIALLY** be able to say no chance?

I agree but to many fans get caught up in the star ratings and get disappointed we get a guy who is a 3 star or a 4 star not talked about much. Amari Cooper was not considered the top WR in the class and most of our fans had DGB and S Diggs as the WR they wanted in our class and many were disappointed we got neither. Even C Black was ranked above Cooper or on par.
In regards to my response to the 2008 class over 40% of those guys never started or finished their career at UA. People talk about that class but the true strength of that class is not why is was rated so high, it was the players who were in the middle of that class and how they finished out their careers so far maybe as the best in one class under Saban. It we rated the class based on how the services ranked it in regards to players ranked the highest maybe the most disappointing.

I dont really see why this class is being perceived as having all 3 stars. We have 5 right now, at least 2 of which will be bumped to 4 star at some point next year. We take somewhere between 5 and 8 3-stars every year. Is it because we lost robertdon and dont have any current 5 stars? Well jonah williams is going to be a 5 star before it's all said and done, and we will get at 2 in-state 5-star linebackers, are in good position for several other 5 stars. Dont really get the pessimism
