Yeah but from what I read on BOL, that's what everyone was saying they think happened before that article came out. I'm sure this is what happened.

The worst we're looking at here is the loss of a couple scholarships. I doubt even that will happen.

AL.com is saying the same thing. Bo didn't cooperate with the school when asked about the situation so they fired him. Doesn't seem like this is a big deal.

dont think we lose anything.
maybe a loss of a week by one coach on the recruiting trail. He got fired, if this story is true, for lying to coach and the compliance folks. Very few things can get you fired for a secondary violation unless you cover it up or lie to big dawg.

it benefits the school to get out in front of this to the media so rumors will get nipped in the bud. NS will more than likely not be making a statement on what happened but the minions will be making reports.

It's VERY naive to think this until all the information has been released.
The textbooks were not a big deal, but they resulted in three years probation and 21 vacated wins.

but we were still within the 5 year window when the textbook thing hit. This violation is a secondary one dude. If what we are reading is true.

This. Everyone kept saying it wasn't a big deal. That Bama has self reported. Everything was fine.
Then... wham!

You aren't reading anything official from the university, the conference, or the NCAA yet.

very true but the U is releasing info to writers that they trust. This is an unofficial official release. One of those that the U releases stuff to is Cecil Hurt. Yall keep listening to what Cecil is saying.
I am not making light of anything but if this was a secondary, the NCAA nor the U will make an official statement. All secondary will be released on a yearly basis with no coaches name mentioned.

I think he has tweeted a few things but I have not seen an article. I have been following the draft the past couple of days and have not followed much. I think Al.com has an article from Scarb today.
I went back to Cecil's tweets and he does not say anything but when he does it will be as close to the truth as it gets as he will refer to a source within the athletic department

According to a source familiar with details of the case, Davis is accused of visiting multiple out-of-state recruits during a period when coaches aren't allowed any contact with recruits.
The recruits in question did not end up signing with Alabama, according to the source.
The NCAA contacted Alabama's compliance office regarding the situation, and Davis was questioned and caught being dishonest before eventually resigning, according to the source.

Ok well I'm assuming this is true and that's all there is to the story. What's the worst punishment we could get from that?

We're getting it now... with all this hand wringing.

Losing a great assistant is the punishment.
Posted on 5/1/16 at 12:56 pm to Bamafan15
Bama handled it about as well as you could expect.

I just can't breathe easy until the NCAA says all clear.
Again, I go back to the textbook thing. The two other schools with identical or worse incidents received basically no punishment. We vacated 21 wins and got 3 years of probation.

There shouldn't be any punishment, the same situation happened to Joker Phillips at Florida. They fired him and that was that.
