The problem this year as I see it is the intangibles: complacency, leadership, etc. Saban himself went off on a rant at the Dallas Crimson Caravan about the problems in this area. He said complacency is rampant and the proof is in the pudding. Look at the off season stuff we've had this season we haven't had in the past few years...at least not to this degree.

Nothing, but the mentality down there right now at least among some of the players is "we're Alabama, all we have to do is show up." If Saban didn't see it himself, he wouldn't speak to it. But it's been his mantra for 2 seasons now.

Usually when saban speaks to the media about something, he does it as a preemptive strike. If he says the team isnt practicing well, it's because he wants them to practice harder coming up. If he says complacency is a problem, it's because he doesnt want complacency to become a problem in the future.
Everything the guy says is calculated. i take his comments about complacency as a positive. To me it means the players have been playing good and they know they are good and he doesnt want them to get complacent. I dont take his comments to mean we currently have guys resting on their laurels, i take it as he doesnt want guys resting on their laurels over the summer.
He always wants guys to continue to work to get better, no matter how great they already are. His comments to the media are a thinly veiled message to the players.

Agree with your post.
Also, Saban said some things throughout the spring that would indicate non-complacency.

BAma is a pretty large favorite against Wisconsin and they are replacing a ton too. I don't think that game is a potential pitfall.
Arky Is at home correct and their strengths(running the ball) feeds into what Bamas defense wants.
I think you may be right about the record but the teams Bama loses to I disagree.
