At least it sounds like a good hire. Type of guy a lot of us were looking for according to Goodman.

Just went to a Providence board and they're saying this is a huge loss. They were talking about how great of a recruiter he was as well as the coach Cooley talked with during timeouts. From the initial look, this seems to be a big hire for Johnson

I was just reading that myself.

quote:

Spoke to a local AAU guy back a couple of months ago, told me Simon was a beast on the recruiting trail. Also, a great Xs and Os guy.

I like this.

If Bama can get one stud from the NE and one from Texas and then fill in with Bama kids we should do fine going forward. Now to figure out how to get the stud out of Alaska.

Cooley comments on Simon: LINK

It mentions that Simon has been recruiting a lot of kids in the south so that alleviates my one and only concern.

Looks like they were recruiting J. Isaac. So maybe that's who is going to see him. Looks like Trent Forrest got offered while he was there too. Don't know if we go after him but he played with Alabama Challenge so he would be familiar with some of our players.

Here's the official release on Simon and retaining our ponytail strength coach: LINK

We still have to add one more assistant and a director of basketball operations.

I am 54.5 years old. I barely get the laptop turned on. What do you think about my photoshop skills?

@EvanDaniels: David Miller, the son of former NBA & college assistant coach Dave Miller, has accepted a video/opps position at Alabama, per a source.

What's a "video/opps" position? I'm assuming the guy puts together film of opposing teams/our team, and...?

That's probably pretty close to a full time job during the season.

That is actually the job Spoelstra first had with the Miami Heat before eventually becoming an assistant then HC.

Jeff Goodman seems to be a fan

quote:

@GoodmanESPN: Alabama's Avery Johnson with quality hire in the video role with Arizona GA David Miller. Will be a terrific assistant coach in time.
