They finished the game with 91.

Great halftime adjustments by Saban, Smart, and co.

If not for that miracle tip play that went long for a TD we would have COMPLETELY shut their offense down in the second half. 77 of their 117 second half yards came on that play.

Our fans need to stop saying this. If the safety did his job, it's an incomplete pass at worst, interception at best.

There's nothing miraculous about tipping the ball to yourself.

Beat me to it. The Ole Miss play where Kelly threw the ball up for grabs to avoid a sack and the ball got tipped to another player was a miracle play. This was a bad play by Smith and a good athletic move by the WR to stay with the ball. It was low percentage play, but not miraculous.

I say it because it pisses the barners off.

That was just a stellar play by the WR to maintain concentration on the ball.
Not a miracle play, IMO.

Smith should of laid that guy out, and that play shouldn't of happened. However, I am curious if he didnt play the Ole Miss play correctly and could of prevented that play since it was on his side of the field.

Watch the replay, Smith fell (or dove) and Eddie had to pull up to keep from tripping over him. Otherwise, I think EJ breaks it up, or at least tacles the receiver.

Geno dives like an idiot going for the damn pick when he should have been waiting to light Smith's arse up. Oh well. That is why you need head hunters like RH out there

It's at best anomalous, which means it could be statistically discarded.

It's up to us to make a play rather than giving up on the play. No miracle, Auburn guy created his own opportunity there. Hats off to him.

He didn't give up on the play. He selfishly dove for an interception instead of breaking up the pass. As a senior, you have to know that on 3rd and 12 it is better to just break up a pass and get the ball back on a punt rather than going for a highly unlikely pick. We had just gone up by 13, Bama getting the ball back there would have been a death blow to Auburn.

Eddie Jackson, aka Geno Smith (per CBS). Eddie stopped to watch the dive instead of making a play on the ball, it should have never happened.

It may not rise to the level of miraculous but it was somewhat lucky, mixed with athleticism. Tipped balls don't always tip so favorably.

Looked to me like he HAD to stop and dodge Geno who was diving right at his lower legs.

I'm not saying it was stellar play by either guy, but I really think Geno's dive got in Eddie's way.

Yep. Gus said after the game that Alabama was keeping an extra man near the LOS so they had good looks in the passing game. Unfortunately for Auburn, our QB isn't very good and our WRs struggle catching

Saban and Smart are great at making defensive halftime adjustments. This Iron Bowl was another example of that. We knew they couldn't throw consistently on us, so bring an extra man into the box and take away the only thing they could do decently. Ballgame.

Interesting that that was a halftime adjustment. As someone who only watches football on Saturdays I knew that at kickoff.

Stupid first half defensive game plan. We let Auburn put up more yards on us than just about anybody on their schedule.

That's like saying what a great adjustment by Dabo to start putting back a return man after they went the whole game without one on punts. It isn't brilliant to stop being stupid.

Yeah. The plan the whole time should have been to make them throw. This is year 3 or 4 and they still don't really know how to stop this offense.

I guess, but I mean, by all indications we should have been able to stop them running the ball without bringing another man into the box.

AU's Oline actually did a great job blocking at the point of attack in the first half. When Smart and co. saw that, they made the adjustment.

AU had like 260 total yards for the game, and 91 rushing yards, the lowest of Gus Bus' entire tenure at AU. Held them to 6 points in the 1st half, and shut them out in the second half other than the tip drill TD (lucky bastages.)

Plus, we had stopped better running teams all year with 7 guys in the box. AU is really the first team that forced us to bring an 8th man into the box. Kudos to their OL for playing a good game in the first half.
