Are we in a bad QB situation

The good passer transferred. Now we got jalen who is a really bad passer and the freshman from Hawaii coming. Maybe he will compete for the job. I don't see how jalen can improve accuracy that much.
They gave Barnett like 2 drives at the start of USC game then yanked him. When he came in later he threw some pretty passes

Not sure. Are we in a bad situation after Pearl Harbor? Since we are on the subject of $hit that is in the past that we can't do anything about right now.

I really think Jalen will be fine. I do think this year Saban really stressed no turnovers. This made the play calling and Jalen alittle tight. The kid was so afraid of mistakes that it rendered his passing game ineffective. I don't blame Saban due to the defense we had, and it obviously worked. We just ran across one of the best players of college football during a hot streak. I expect Sark to open it up next year.. more down the field. We won't have the same D as this year. The bright side is at the beginning of the year he was under throwing targets and his arm strength started to be questioned. We now know that wasn't the issue.. the kid can sling it. Just needs more practice at timing in game situations. Hard to simulate in practice.

A lot is up to the work Jalen is willing to put in.
As much as he did, he left a lot on the field as far as passing went. His decisions need to improve, whether it be his reads or when to tuck it.
Look at Lamar Jackson from year 1 to year 2, different player. I'm hoping Hurts can make even half that leap.
Hope the transition to Sark doesn't translate into "new system". Lord know we don't need to see Jalen learning a different system.
Similiar systems yeah, but Sark may like things his way instead of Kiffin's...

I'm looking forward to Sark next year and I think our RB situation will be better with the freshman coming in.

His accuracy isn't a major issue. It's the fact that he doesn't handle pressure well and, to make matters worse in that regard, often feels pressure when it's not there. He also has to improve his field vision and his reads both before and after the snap. Fortunately these are issues that most inexperienced QBs have and are definitely fixable.

He also stares down where he's throwing it after the snap. He should improve on that too

Jalen's accuracy was ok early in the year (not great, but ok). It really went downhill the last month.
His main problem, as previously stated, was route progression, throwing to spots and trusting his vision. Those are all VERY common things in young QBs, especially true freshman who have had almost no experience and no feeling out period of the offense. He was thrown into the fire. That's the sort of stuff you make huge strides in from Year 1 to Year 2.
He may never be Peyton Manning or even AJ McCarron with his accuracy and touch, but I certainly think he can be good......and if he can be good, be savvy and know the offense front and back along with his legs? He'll be a great QB for us. I have no doubts.

True freshman, 18 years old. If its the Iron Bowl next year and Jalen still can't hit a receiver more than 10 yards down field, I'll be worried. Until then he did just fine.

Nah dude. We have Jalen Hurts. The kid is a natural playmaker. That run against Clemson was clutch as frick - not to mention that acrobatic 3rd down throw across his body to set up 4th and short on that same drive.
Once he's able to loosen up more, and really feel confident out there, he's gonna ball out.
Sark is great at developing QBs - especially dual threat guys. We're good. He was a fricking true freshman. The fact we even were in the title game with a true freshman QB was crazy, and the kid made winning plays all year.

I think we are more-so in a bad thread situation...

Our true freshman QB did just enough to put us in position to win a National Champioship. I expect him to progress and get better each year.
So no, I don't think we are in a bad QB situation.

i think we have good days ahead of us but a former college coach and pro coach for almost 40 years told me that he thought Jalen regressed this year. Maybe the Manning camp or something similar like Whitfiled can help

I am all for this. I think it would be great for him to ONLY focus on his mechanics to become a better passer. Do we start a gofundme or what?

I don't think we are in a bad QB situation.
Once Hurts won the job, it is obvious that any and all upperclassmen QB's were going to transfer.
Hurts is/was a true freshman and he passed like a true freshman. He telegraphed a lot of throws. He misses some read. His accuracy was inconsistent on short/medium passes and non-existent on long passes. All of these things can and will be improved with time, coaching, and reps.
The good news is...the rest of his game was very un-freshman like. He was calm, showed poise, had the respect and attention of his teammates. All wonderful things. Oh, and he runs the ball like a running back.
I would like to see Tua red-shirt a year...have 1-2 years to back up hurts, and then be the man.
We'll obviously need to add some additional depth, but I think the future at QB is as bright as it has ever been for Bama.

There are no stats for this but it is a MAJOR plus for him.
