I don't know.

On one hand, the offense was pretty explosive. Blake Sims set records while being nowhere near as talented as some previous Bama QB's.

On the other hand, our offense looked a lot like explosive offenses that I didn't fear in the past. They pile up points until they run into a good defense, then they struggle.

Some part of me misses the mauling O-lines, with tough RB's, and play action passing. I think those offenses ALWAYS work, where the cute ones are streaky.

Isn't that more on the lack of quality on the offensive line than anything else? We didn't have a strong plan B because the running game wasn't nearly the threat of years past.

Edit: and it wasn't like our offense was that bad.

I kind of just realized this. A lot of us are looking at 2016 like it could be a very strong year for the offense given the amount of experience and talent
we will have at the skill positions and the offensive line. However, there is a strong chance we could lose Kiffin if we do well offensively this year. That has to factor into our projections for 2016.

I think overall, Kiffin was a great hire. Its really hard to argue with the results from last year. That said, we had an extremely bad habit of having terrible streaks of 3 & outs during very inopportune times and I wonder how often Kiffin was bailed out by Sims' legs? I don't think Kiffin likes to check his ego and start running the ball down another team's throat.

Kiffin in the redzone > Nuss and McElwain.

Good, fair assessment. I miss the 2012 type o line. that 2012 SECG was an all time great performance in cfb, period. That kind of stuff is hard to replicate. Perhaps some time in the near future we will see something similar. We have an all American LT, let's see if the other pieces can fall into place.

Kiffin's fortes are developing QB's and west coast style offenses. He is doing both well for Bama. The problem with that is it rules out a power running game because he will always be too finesse. I'd rather lose a little explosiveness in favor of the old running game that we could rely on and fall back on when the shite was hitting the fan. There's something irreplaceable about being able to physically impose your will on someone.

sadly, there were times last season when our oline was mauling the opponent in important games. but kiffin refused to stay with it, he just couldnt stand not airing it out. that led to punts, turnovers lost points and games. just because he cant stand to call 6-8 run plays in a row. if kiffin learns to recognize those times and call plays accordingly rather than air it out. he could be a more powerful oc than he is already.

If you could name one or two players from the 2014 OL, DL, or LB corps who could have started on one of the championship teams, I might consider agreeing with you.

Ragland and big cam would both be starters on any of our championship teams. Other than that it's tough prob no one outside of those two.

A good hire... but i hope all our QBs attend the Mastrole Passing Academy like Sims did last year.
