I think it was great myself. Pumped to see what he pulls off this year.

Blake Sims broke records last year. Compare what Blake Sims did before 2014 to anything else he did in his career and tell me Kiffin was a bad hire. At worst, he was a solid hire.

Not sure, but I'll wait until Jan 2016 before I answer this question.

I think it was a great hire. Only thing I would say is I think we should have ran the ball more, that said our OL wasn't too strong and our best player was a WR, so I get throwing in some of the situations where it could be argued we shouldn't have. I think this year the #2 WR (Stewart) may end up being better than White, and I loved White, but I probably expected too much from him and he was always banged up. IF Howard can come along, then you throw in Drake, Kiffin has 4 dynamic targets to feed. But I'm sure Saban wants to run the ball a little more, and we may do that in some situations, but I think we may be scared with out RB depth.

Henry
Drake
Harris
Flowers
Clark

Not counting walkons, and Bo is hurt. Two of those will be true freshmen, one of which I like but was never too high on (not saying Flowers will be bad, just that I'm not sure he has awesome potential, but I'm only going on what I saw out of HS and what not, could be different at this level). Clark looked good running routes out of the backfield, but he's probably more a FB than a RB.

Henry is a big body so he should be able to take a workload, but he did get a LOT of carries in HS. That said, he wasn't always tackled on those, but still.

I really don't know what to expect out of the O other than that it should be fine based on talent.

Amazing what not being able to speak to the media can do for ones image. Which was really his biggest problem in the past.

That's been kept in check so everything else is good.

So far it has been a good hire. Having Kiffin on the field vs being in the box has been outstanding.

Considering he made most of the pre snap reads and we won the SEC, I'd say he's done well so far.

Loved that decision when it was announced and it worked out well for us, hope it continues.

while some folks are touting all the qb records and offensive accomplishments.

tosu is holding up the trophy. i think that says it all for me.

so you are saying that it was a "bad hire" because we barely lost to the National Champions in the playoffs?

I found this tweet rather interesting:

quote:

Bottom 5 returning starts - Offense:

#124 Alabama
Boston College
Florida St.
Central Mich.
#128 UTSA (24)

If Kiffin can pull it off this year, then he belongs in the conversation as tGOAT offensive coordinator at Alabama. Right now Kiffin is second in the CNS era, slightly behind McElwain.

If only Kiffin would have taught our DBs better technique

if only those bad play calls at opportunistic times hadnt resulted in turnovers

and no, i'm not saying kiffin was a 'BAD' hire. but before we crown him grand poobah, lets see if he figures out that there are times when a run game is more powerful than the pass. we lost 2 games last year because he refused to consistently run the ball when it was clicking.

What Kiffin did to help B Sims become as successful as he was, is pretty remarkable. Before last season, I never would have thought Sims would break the records he broke last year. Don't get me wrong, Sims deserves all the credit for the hard work it took to get there but, I'm not so sure that any of our other OCs could've gotten that same output from him. jmo

Well I think we can say as a QB coach he's easily one of the best we've ever had.

As an OC, he needed to run the ball more. We abandoned the run and in the end it burned us multiple times.

You can see the drives against Ohio St. They start out with a few runs mixed in, and we drove the ball, and then you'll see 4 passes in a row and a punt.

However, I do not see how McElwain can be considered better. I do not think so at all. McElwain was constantly attacking the short side of the field and that allowed teams to stack the box and give us a hard time. He would drive me crazy at times.

Nuss was too pass happy and didn't do near the things that Kiffin has done with the passing game.

So I think I'd have to rank Kiffin above the 2 of them. Nuss has a championship and Kiffin doesn't, so I don't think that measure is all that accurate. Nuss had a hell of a team to work with, and still managed to lose to A&M that year solely due to poor play calling.

He is great with the passing game and I like him a lot but I do feel like we got away from our physical identity last year and I hope to get it back.
