Is there any debate over this list?

Don Hutson (1931-34)
Ozzie Newsome (1974-77)
David Palmer (1991-93)
Julio Jones (2008-10)
Amari Cooper (2012-Present)

If it's a top 5 list then no, there is no debate.

DJ Hall, while he cared more about partying than football, was still a great receiver at Alabama and at times was unstoppable

A healthy Prothro is probably up there too

If the list goes beyond 5, I'd put David Bailey over DJ Hall. Greatest Bama receiver that most guys under 40 have never heard of. Freshmen couldn't play in his day, and his senior year in 1971 he willingly went from being the guy who held most of our receiving records to a blocking receiver in a Wishbone offense where we only threw the ball 52 times all year. So he held all those Bama records basically in only 2 years.

Imagine if Saban had told DJ Hall his senior year that he was only gonna get 20 catches and that he wanted Hall to just block every play.

The greatest punt returner I have ever seen at Alabama, with all due respect to Javier Arenas. There is a YouTube video of him returning a punt against Vandy, 3 guys have him dead to rights, and he basically teleports past them.

I was going to fight someone for mentioning DJ Hall.

Let me know where to meet.

Cancer. Does not belong in the conversation.

Looks like Tarzan. Plays like Jane. Wouldn't go over the middle if there was a c-note out there.

Was Ozzie considered a WR or tight end?

He was a split end in the wisbone, took advantage of his size outside.

Moved to TE in the pros, great blocker and a better mismatch there than WR.
