I was bored and just wanted to compile a list of our 1,000+ yard rushers. We historically run the football and yet we didn't have our first 1,000-yard rusher until 1971. Only six players in eight different seasons ran for more than 1,000 yards in the 20th century. Compare that to the 21st century where we have nine different players in 10 different seasons rush for more than 1,000 yards.

1. Johnny Musso (1971) 191-1,088 5.7
2. Bobby Humphrey (1986) 236-1,471 6.2
3. Bobby Humphrey (1987) 238-1,255 5.3
4. Siran Stacy (1989) 216-1,079 5.0
5. Sherman Williams (1994) 291-1,341 4.6
6. Dennis Riddle (1996) 242-1,079 4.5
7. Shaun Alexander (1998) 258-1,178 4.6
8. Shaun Alexander (1999) 302-1,383 4.6
9. Shaud Williams (2003) 280-1,367 4.9
10. Kenneth Darby (2004) 219-1,062 4.8
11. Kenneth Darby (2005) 239-1,242 5.2
12. Glen Coffee (2008) 233-1,393 5.9
13. Mark Ingram (2009) 271-1,658 6.1
14. Trent Richardson (2011) 283-1,679 5.9
15. Eddie Lacy (2012) 204-1,322 6.5
16. T.J. Yeldon (2012) 175-1,108 6.3
17. T.J. Yeldon (2013) 207-1,235 6.0
18. Derrick Henry (2015) 395-2,219 5.6
19. Damien Harris (2016) 146-1,037 7.1

I didn't know Shaud Williams had that many yards in '03. I do remember the 80 yd run on the first play against Arkansas, though.

Damien Harris' YPC is off the charts.

stats can be misleading because they didn't play as many games and they didn't start officially counting stats from bowl games until 2002.

It's too bad that drunk piece of shite Steve Sarkisian forgot he existed in the 2nd half of the national championship game last season.

I watched a highlight video the other day from that year and OMG do I wish Eddie could get back to that weight and ferocity.

Yeldon was 21 yards away from three straight 1,000 yard seasons. That would've been damn impressive.

True, but look at the YPC average.

Yeah, Derrick Lassic had a 1,000 yard season in '92 but it's not recognized since he went over that mark in the Sugar Bowl against Miami...

I might be wrong but I think Siran Stacy ran for over 1,000 yards in 1991 when you include his Blockbuster Bowl stats.

Edit:

Yep. Siran Stacy, when stats from the Blockbuster Bowl are accounted for, looked like this in 1991: 226-1,078 4.8

And for Derrick Lassic in 1992 when bowl game stats are accounted for: 206-1,040 5.0

Harry Gilmer was All SEC and All American and had 552 yards rushing and had 7.0 ypc in 1945. They only played 9 games. That is not taking into account the Rose Bowl.

Before Jalen Hurts, Harry Gilmer was probably the most gifted athlete we had ever had at QB. Obviously I am not old enough to have seen him play, but from what I read he could do it all.

Yeldon was damn impressive. I feel like a lot of Bama fans skim over him when talking about our great recent runningbacks.

That LSU catch is one of the most important plays of the Saban era.

Biggest reason is more games.

10 game regular season was the norm till early 70's then it became 11 and then later 12 in the mid 2000's.

Also bowl games didn't count in stats.

Players now have 12-15 games to do it, as opposed to 10.

Absolutely, I'm not old enough to have watched him play either. I love history and Alabama football so naturally I like the history of Alabama Football. He only passed for 905 yards the same year.

Without sack yard deductions Jalen had a thousand yard season last year.

He's also averaging almost 9 yards a carry this season.

You left off Musso's 1970 season. He had even more yards than 1971. 226-1,137-5.0.
