I posted these last year for our big games and people seemed to enjoy them.

Alabama (-11) at Ole Miss

Game-turning defensive plays keyed Ole Miss’ 2014 and ’15 upsets of Alabama. The Rebels’ 45-34 loss to Florida State did not inspire much confidence that this year’s inexperienced secondary can do the same.

Pick: Alabama 34, Ole Miss 17

Alabama (-11) at Ole Miss

Alabama 30, Ole Miss 14: Hugh Freeze has beaten the Tide twice in a row, but his team is pretty inexperienced and banged up. As dominant as Nick Saban’s team has been, it hasn't really gotten the run game cranking yet. I think Bama’s O will be much sharper this time around.

Bleacher Report:

quote:

#1 Alabama at #19 Ole Miss

When: Saturday, Sept. 17; 3:30 p.m. ET

Last meeting: Ole Miss won 43-37 at Alabama last September.

What to watch for

Alabama (2-0) has outscored its first two opponents 90-16, yet coach Nick Saban isn't satisfied, based on what he called a sideline "arse chewing" of offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin late in last week's 38-10 win over Western Kentucky. The Crimson Tide are gaining 6.53 yards per play and freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts has accounted for six touchdowns, but there's a reason Saban has won so many national titles.

He knows that what 'Bama has done to this point isn't good enough, especially when heading out to face the team it has lost to each of the past two seasons.

"What Alabama needs is stability—and fast," Bleacher Report's Christopher Walsh wrote.

Ole Miss (1-1) has the past on its side when it comes to facing the Tide, but the present has been uneven. First there was the collapse against Florida State, giving up 36 straight points after being up 22, and then an unimpressive 38-13 win over FCS Wofford.

The Rebels have been able to take advantage of 'Bama not being set in its ways when they met in 2014 and 2015, and while the Tide are still figuring out their offensive identity, the defense remains rock solid. Saban hasn't lost three years in a row to the same opponent since 1997-99, to Purdue while at Michigan State.

Prediction: Alabama 33, Ole Miss 21

Alabama Crimson Tide (-10) at Ole Miss Rebels : I think Jonathan Allen might be the perfect college football player in 2016. There's not another example of size, strength, speed and talent that impresses me more than what I've seen from No. 93 this season. After what I expect to be a slow-starting first half, expect Alabama to hit just enough big plays to make Ole Miss and Chad Kelly press on offense. That's when Allen and Kelly will become very familiar, and the Tide will pull away with a vengeful victory on the road. Pick: Crimson Tide -10

Just damn. I'm confident. But I expected at least some talking heads to pick ole miss. Especially after the "dynasty is dead" talk last September.

It's just hard for me to see Ole Miss scoring a lot of points on this defense.

As long as we don't turn the ball over on two kickoffs we should be golden.

We just have to play with 0 turnovers and see who is the best. Variable stuff will kill us if we let it.

I think the title run put those death rumors to rest (until Bama loses again).

As to OM, one thing that's not being talked about that much is the fact that FSU physically beat them up - something that did not happen prior to 2014 & 2015. In those years, Bama was the first really physical team they faced.

In addition, their weakest defensive area is matched against Bama's best offensive asset. FSU's receivers are good, but top to bottom Bama's are better. Conversely, OM will be facing the best Bama secondary in a long time.

Because they've got Swag Kelly, Ole Miss has a puncher's chance. If the stars align right, they can certainly win the game but if they don't get another 5 turnovers and a helmet bounce, I don't think they've got the ability to stay close.

The line started at 8 1/2 and has now reached 11, everyone betting on Bama.

Yeah I agree. Watching the first half of the ole miss FSU game reminded me of first half of Alabama Texas A&M 2012.

I see protecting the ball being an important topic this week.

Bama's Defense is one of the best I've seen. The proof will be in the coming Games.

The Defense is fast and changes the way the other Team plays.

It's Ole Miss's turn.

If the Bama front 4 consistantly put pressure on kelly, I see Bama winning big.
*if* being the key word.

Also a huge key to the game is ball security on our end. We don't need to put the ball on the ground or an INT on our side of the field.
