"We're gonna end up playing, in dime, three freshmen in this game," Saban said. "Marlon Humphrey's a redshirt guy, Minkah Fitzpatrick is a true freshman and Ronnie Harrison's gonna play dime this week 'cause Mo Smith was hurt a little bit with shoulder stingers, hasn't been able to hit, been able to practice. So we're gonna play him in the game, but we don't know how much."

Trust me when I tell you, and I have said this since the 1st scrimmage. Ronnie Harrison is twice the athlete MO Smith is. It may not even be that close. He is electric, him and Fitz feed off each other. DON'T worry.

Other than the likely mental errors due to inexperience, I think this secondary is beastly.

AjA77- Defensive adjustment...!(Posted on 9/15/15 at 8:34 am) 03 I Would consider playing Ronnie Harrison in some defensive packages for this game. Even-though he is a true freshmen I would consider him at the money position on some ole miss possessions. I think his range and length would be ideal matching up with ole miss Wr's like (Laquon Treadwell). As ole miss is using him in the slot on some formations.. Or maybe roll Jackson to money sometime with Harrison playing deep coverage. I think ole miss will throw a few over the top to see if Jackson can turn and run.. As a CB Jackson had problems showing burst turning his hips and run.. But he does look much better at safety.. I think Harrison range is much better than both our starting safeties right now.. Im not saying start him.. Just mix him into some packages alternating with 29..or slide him in on some 3rd and over 10yrds.. This post was edited on 9/15 at 8:52 am

Wonder what's going on with Hootie. Maybe Harrison is just better. Ronnie has been there since the spring and he was a high school quarterback, so he should have a decent grasp on things

It wouldn't be the first time we've seen freshman corners shine against Ole Miss in BDS.

Some guys just have really high football I.Q.s. Minkah and Ronnie are definitely two of those type of guys.

Hootie is a great backup but isn't quite ready mentally.

I'm excited about this. Minkah played well and can be a threat as a blitzer. Lots of potential.

I listened to the broadcast and CNS wasn't exactly bragging or thrilled about this fact. He was asked about matching up with the Ole Miss receivers and he said something like Cyrus has done a good job but you have to remember we're going to have 3 freshmen playing in dime.

They're all phenomenal athletes but remember Ole Miss confused the hell out of our secondary last year with veteran guys back there like Landon, Nick, and Jarrick

All who struggled in coverage their entire career and to this day.

My point is that they were visibly confused/fooled by what Ole Miss was doing with their formations and route combos. And they were vets. The frosh are going to be in for quite a challenge and that was the tone of CNS's comment IMO.

It was mostly Landon. They killed him with those seam routes to Engram.

Everyone always talks about how Saban needs to play the best players no matter their class-well, here yall go. I, for one, am excited to see what these guys have. Minkah has looked good. Excited about that guy. Harrison looked like a beast-may have been the best defensive player in the spring game.

This... Hopefully the addition of Tucker along with these High IQ youngsters with great instincts will allow us to play with a little more freedom tomorrow. Maybe these are just more signs of the NWO in the defensive secondary. I am excited to see what these cats will do.

This too... But he has looked lost when he has been on the field in non-kick coverage situations. Maybe its just another reflection of the elite Instincts and Football IQ's of Ronnie & Minkah.

It could very well be that the two most coveted CB prospects from the last few recruiting seasons - Brown and Humphrey - may not turn out to be "the guy". Not that they won't end up being solid, but I think we all thought we had a latter-day Lester Hayes/Mike Haynes combo with those two. Minkah may pass up both of them in accomplishments and legacy. It will be interesting to watch.

I'm fine with that. These Freshman DBs have looked pretty good to me.

I think they'll get more comfortable and get better the more snaps they play.

The caliber of WRs they see this week will be better. But that's the type of players they practice against every day.

I think Harrison was going to take this spot even without the injury. It might be coming a little sooner but this guy was going to get on the field.
