Good write up...

Originally, Tommy Brown wanted to take his time with the recruiting process. But three weeks after he received his offer from Alabama in early June, he decided there was no reason to wait.

Alabama is the dream school for Brown, the Crimson Tide's newest commitment and a 6-foot-7, 315-pound offensive tackle from powerhouse Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif.

He told Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key and head coach Nick Saban on the phone that he wanted to commit, but waited to go public until after he met with them personally on Friday morning. That's when he announced.

He'll follow somewhat in his father Vince's footsteps. Vince Brown threw the shot put for Alabama, graduating in 1982. "(For his father), it was the opportunity to be around a great coach like Bear Bryant, even though he wasn't playing football," Brown said.

"He had the opportunity to be around greatness and took that opportunity when it came."
