But as an analyst he can't be an on the field QB coach can he?

He could consult to Daboll until 10th coach is approved, which may be as soon as April.

I could care less at this point who Saban brings in as OC. He has missed more then got it right IMO regarding pass/t hires. I just want someone that will actually use all the freaking talent we have at our disposal

legally no, but im sure the analysts do a little coaching with closed practices

I thought so too but from the way Hurts talked about Sarkisian it's pretty clear they didn't interact at all.

Yep. It appears Saban is careful to avoid issues with analysts crossing that boundary.

Who has he missed on? Under McElwain, we had 1 SEC title and 2 BCS titles...Nussmeier, 1 SEC/1 BCS title...Kiffin, 3 SEC titles, 1 CFP title. Can't comment on Sark as he was there for only one game...can't criticize that hire though since an NFL team wanted him as well...

There's some similarities between lsu and bama fans all along. We want the same thing in an OC. I really wanted kiffin though. I always thought he was good with y'all. The games I watched if a team started stoping one of his weapons he would go straight to the other weapons. But I think Saban will get it right. He always seems one step ahead

I didn't hate Kiffin, but I didn't love his style of offense either.

You can have 4 drives with huge chunk plays that net 4 TD's, while the rest of the drives are 5 plays or less. That gets you 28 points.

Or

You can have 8 drives that go 10 plays or more, netting you 4 TD's.

Those aren't equal. Obviously the second one keeps your defense fresher. But, it's also a more reliable offense. With the big play offense, sooner or later the odds are going to hit and you'll have a whole half or even an entire game where those big plays just don't happen.

I prefer when we KNEW we could line up and get 5 yards any time we wanted. Throw in the occasional big play downfield. That's the perfect offense in MY opinion.

From what I've read: April approval is still possible. Main support for the ammendment to delay the 10th Coach to Jan 2018 is coming from the Group of 5 schools, due primarily to their 2017 budget constraints. Effort is underway by many of them to find budget work arounds. So, they may back off their support of the ammendment.

Name one of those the majority of people want back including Saban who has yet to go after any of them for the open position.

If you honestly believed that each of those OCs maximized our talent on the roster so be it. And yes it is nice to have the rings we have but we have had the talent to win more under those same people.

Hire the Pope if he can run the ball and get the ball downfield to the WRs.

I think Kiffin and McElwain were pretty damned fantastic.

Kiffin was not bad and out of all the OCs under Saban IMO was the best. He had Sims get into the 1st playoffs and won a NC with Coker at QB. But sometimes simple will work and just seemed to roam off the reservation to much during games.

Sure - I agree - I just think that literally every offensive coordinator has things like that. Maybe I'm missing one, but I think every guy has one or two things that will nag at people.

McElwain was the throw it up to Julio in the red zone with a QB not accurate enough despite the fact that he was cover by three players.
