Undefeated back to back 1A state champs Maplesville travels to undefeated Isabella tomorrow. Game of the week, IMO. Everyone around here is going. I'm sure it'll be on the news. I heard they're having to hire extra security bc of how big this game is. They'll also be tailgating at the game, which is a first for Isabella. This game has the chance to be a classic. Just hope Isabella believes they can win. That's always been the thing that's held them back. I do believe they can win tho, but I expect Maplesville to win.

*Maplesville is ranked #1. Isabella is receiving votes to be ranked in the top 10.

WAAY 31 Game (Half) of the week is Arab hosting Scottsboro.

Arab is beat up and Scottsboro is a lot better to begin with.

Maplesville-59
Isabella-14
Final

It was close at first, Maplesville is just more talented. The refs helped Maplesville like always, and they played dirty. But Maplesville was the better team either way. Isabella IS good tho. Watch out for both teams to make noise. Maplesville will probably win it all again

Connor Adair and Elliott McElwain helped Hewitt-Trussville beat Sparkman 42-14. Adair threw for nearly 250 yards and 3 TD's. Hewitt-Trussville finished with 532 total yards on offense.

Chadarius Townsend (Alabama commit) had a blocked punt, ran for 95 yards, and intercepted a pass. Tanner beat Tarant 49-26.

Hoover continues to dominate, beats Huffman 38-6. They'll play their big rival Vestavia Hills next week.

Huge game between Hueytown and Parker last night. Hueytown actually was up 22-6 at halftime, but couldn't muster any offense in the second half.

Another big game and a shootout. Gadsden City beat Bob Jones 46-41. Damon Williams finished with 220 rushing yards and 2 TD's. Brady Poison is looking really good though for Bob Jones. Had 464 yards vs Hewitt Trussville last week, and had 320 yards vs Gadsden City. This game had 8 lead changes.

Vestavia Hills beat Mt Brook 17-14 in double OT. It's hard to predict how Vestavia will play this season. One of the most inconsistent teams in the state. Either way, a big upset for them. Earl Bradberry had a blocked punt for a TD, then intercepted a pass in double OT to set up the game-winning FG.

Another game that went into double OT (weirdly the same score too): Vigor kicked a game-winning FG to beat Jackson.

Clay-Chalkville beat Carver Montgomery 44-41.

Opelika beat Chelsea 48-24. Big region game in 6A there.

Gardendale bounced back after losing 3 games in a row to beat Walker 35-28. Steven Crowder ran in for a TD late in the 4th to go ahead 35-28.

Wetumpka beat Helena in a big regional game 28-21. They've now won 5 games in a row since a odd loss to Chelsea. Probably going to come to end as they play Opelika next.

So happy for Isabella High School. They were 1-9 last year and were blown out in almost every game. So far this year, they're 7-1 and second place in their region and will likely host the playoffs for the first time in many years. Looks like they'll be 9-1 going into the 1A State Playoffs. Only loss is to the back to back state champs Maplesville.

Isabella has no football history at all. Their best season was in 2002 when they lost by 3 in the semifinals. The reason they're good is bc they got a new HC. They hired the OL/DL coach Tate Leonard from Maplesville. He's changed a ton of stuff at Isabella to make it more like Maplesville and it's working. I'm excited to see how much better they get.

Isabella beat Ellwood Christian 61-0. Was 42-0 after 1. 61-0 at the half and then I guess they ran the clock. They're now 8-1 and I think they'll finish second in the region behind Maplesville and host the playoffs. They should win against rival Thorsby next week and go to 9-1. Then it's playoff time. Isabella has one 10 win season in school history so this is very interesting for me lol
