Oh look, Huntsville Metro underachieving yet again.

I think the region should keep their eyes on Buckhorn..old Walker coach can make some noise against Trussville in 3 weeks.

James Clemens held their opponent to 113 yards of offense and LOST by double digits.

Hoover lost to Allen, TX 25-7. Hoover looks like they don't have the playmakers just yet.

AL.com had a pretty good article, questioning who the hottest team in the state is: LINK /

I'm probably going to the Chelsea game to see Wetumpka vs Chelsea. Both have started out well. Wetumpka beat Eufaula 33-0.

Yep. He was hired at the end of last season.

Some folks hated the hire due to his past... but other have rallied around the program more

He is a good guy. That incident between Walker and Cullman was not normal behavior for him. Glad he was given another chance to coach and not have that isolated event ruin his career,

FWIW, we tried to work out my joining his staff many years ago...teaching positions did not fit my certificate etc.

He will do good there. Know I will be pulling for Buckhorn now.

I unfortunately was in ATL, so I didn't get to see all the scores and highlights, but one of my favorite rivalries in the state- Auburn and Opelika HS- played over the weekend and Opelika won 28-0.

Some interesting games this week:

Hoover plays Mt Brook this week. I expect Hoover to bounce back and lay it on the Spartans after losing 25-7 to Allen, TX.

Tuscaloosa County High plays Thompson. I can't remember the streak, but coming into the season, County High hadn't won a game in forever. Now since they hired Bart Sessions, they're averaging 47 PPG.

Hillcrest and Northridge play. Hillcrest has looked impressive in their first two weeks.

And Spain Park plays Vestavia Hills. I generally enjoy the football around the BHam region the most.

I'm watching some Texas HS football right now on NFL Network and I must say- damn. Just the sheer sizes of these boys is impressive.

Definitely a good coach..and besides that incident haven't heard anything else that's concerning. Did hear he was tough, in a good way, but what good coach isn't?

I do wonder though if he was considered or applied to the position at Athens since they had an opening and his brother is the superintendent.

TC went 0-12 last year and entered the season on a 14 game losing streak. Sessions has them 2-0, but it's hard to tell much given both wins were over Bryant and Northridge, two teams that will be lucky to finish above .500.

Hillcrest outscored Demopolis and Oak Mountain a combined 73-0 in the first half. Brian Robinson is a hell of a player, but Cole Frederick is a three year starter at QB and was MVP of the state title team in baseball. Sam Adams appears to be a hell of a coach. They hired him away from Hoover where he was WR's coach. Hopefully Hillcrest can hold onto him.

Hillcrest vs. TC should be a good game this year. Tuscaloosa needs those two teams to be strong for the rivalry to matter. County High has dominated the series, but Hillcrest will be going for three straight over them this year.

Might go out to watch it. If anything, it'd be awesome to see Brian Robinson in action.

And now it gets really bizarre.

Edgewood just forfeited their scheduled game because they said 'credible threats' were made that Autauga Academy would be attempting to intentionally injure Edgewood players

LINK

Autauga Academy officials and apparently even the Edgewood AD said there were no threats - and Autauga asked the Elmore county sheriff to investigate.

Methinks the Edgewood administration is doing a whole lot of lying to avoid facing Carr.

That is unusual.

Keep us updated on that. Not a story you hear every year.

Weird. They just put out the top 25 national HS teams and it's McGill-Toolen at #25

Opelika crushed Carver last night in Crampton, 56-28.

Davidson also crushed Foley 42-6.

Lotta good games tonight around the state.

Looks Like Carver is becoming the bottom feeder in the area again. Only was 3 wins last season...

Yeah they haven't been the same since Johnson left. Opelika though is a contender for the state title and has a really good running game.

Tuscaloosa County High lost 10-3 to Thompson.

Hoover beat Mt Brook 19-3.

Also, how about the kicker from Calera kicking a 40-yard FG to beat Dallas County
