Have not kept up with Wetumpka. Are they expected to be legitimate contenders?

Probably not. They've never really been contenders, but they usually make the playoffs and end up going to the 2nd round. They made it to the 3rd round back in 2010 with Jamal Golden (former safety at Georgia Tech). It's just a big win because Prattville has always been our rivals, our former HC left to go coach there in 2012, and they usually beat our arse. I think that's only our 3rd win vs them since 2000.

I agree and I don't care for the 7A classification.

Not a fan of the 7A thing either, but it's not all that bad. I just hate the new regions. Wetumpka has to play teams like Chelsea, Opelika, Chilton County, and Pelham. We used to play Stanhope, Prattville, Carver High (when they moved up from 5A), and the other public schools in Montgomery.

I hope most of the schools in Jefferson County still play each other. That was always some of the most fun and competitive games.

Just heard a surprising Jamboree score.

Linden 25 - Thomasville 6

Anybody else have a jamboree score? The real game scores can be found since they are required to be reported.

I went and watched Arab-Grissom. I think there was a combined 80 yards of offense in the first half. It was ugly for both teams. Heavy rain drove me away from watching the second half, but Arab ended up winning 20-7. Safe to say neither of these teams will be playing more than 10 games this year.

Hey baw. I requested a sticky for this thread so you wouldn't have to bump it.

I bumped it to see if people would keep posting and therefore justify a sticky.

McGill>Everybody else

Even though Davidson, who looks to have a pretty good team, nearly beat them

After the first week of games, I said that I was most impressed by Chelsea. This week, they absolutely destroyed Briarwood 43-15. BCS went up 8-0 and Chelsea went on to score 43 unanswered points. This is a very dangerous team

Also, Central Clay County upset Benjamin Russell 19-16. Looks like they've finally put it together

Sounds like a good start for Chelsea.

I was surprised to see that Gardendale beat he #2 team in 7A, James Clemens.

And Autauga Academy with all their good fortune this summer beat what I heard was a strong 3A Tuscaloosa Academy.

McGill lost to Davidson last year and still went on to win the state 7A championship. I think the the players thought they could take it easy a little after thumping Spanish Fort. Hopefully 15-0 this year along with another basketball state championship for back to back 7A championships in football and basketball.
