Baylor’s Al Freeman told ESPN that he will graduate and transfer. Big news regarding the Bears.

Guard who averaged 11 PPG this season. Would we want him even tho we will have Sexton and Petty? Would he be eligible immediately since he's graduating?

Yes he'd be eligible immediately. I'm not sure if a want a pure point guard, a three pt shooter, or a big.

That's if we go for a grad transfer. If we go for a regular transfer just give me the best player available.

Hot take: Zion isn't that good. He just makes incredible dunks in a shite private school league. Don't think he's anywhere near the generational player some people make him out to be.

His AAU stats are good, but not incredible. I'll be curious to see how he does this summer.

Cecil Hurt had a brief sitdown with AD Greg Byrne that can be read HERE.

A couple of basketball nuggets:

quote:

Q: The basketball season has just concluded. What were your impressions of the men’s and women’s basketball teams in the time that you had to observe them?
A: Avery (Johnson) and I met today and talked about the future of the men’s program. He has a great vision of where he wants our program to go. I was really pleased with our run in the SEC Tournament, and with what I know about our incoming recruits. Coach (Kristy) Curry just finished in the Women’s NIT (Sunday), where they had a great run as well, and I will visit with her soon.
Coach Johnson has completed two years on his contract and we did review some areas of that. Obviously, whatever contractual obligations we have, we will discuss. That (a possible extension) is something we’ll continue to talk about. You always need to be aware of the marketplace.

quote:

Q: What has been your overall impression of the athletic facilities at UA?
A: ...Coleman Coliseum has its plusses and minuses, and we are continuing to look at that....

Just give me a solid PF next year and I'll be fine.

Was just coming to post about Freeman. He actually averaged just 9.5 PPG this year, but more importantly he's a shooter. Shot 40% from 3 on 3.6 attempts per game. I think adding a known shooter to the team would help sure up the offense. I would rather have a stretch 4, but I'll take whatever shooting we can get.

247 says he averaged 10.9 PPG so I rounded up to 11. Maybe you're looking at a different site and one of the 2 sites has the stats messed up. Either way it's only a 1 point differential so it doesn't matter

24/7 doesn't have the full season. Just has him playing 19 games.

That's a good game for the schedule. Is there a tournament up there?

Sweet. Memphis went 5-9 away from home last year FWIW.

I bet it's the Veterans Classic. That'll probably be our first game this year. It's not a tournament. Just two back to back games. Vandy was in it this year.

Also, you can really build a great SOS off of good mid majors. Vanderbilt had one of the best strength of schedules, and I think they only played 3 power conference schools.

That would be an AWESOME opening game! Alabama vs Memphis in Maryland. Would probably be on ESPN or ESPN2. We'd get to see what our freshmen are made of real early

Dang. Well that'll likely be the channel it's on. Still will bring in a lot of viewers I'm sure
