The things I'm going to be watching are how Myreon Jones does, if he plays like he did last session I'd be surprised if we don't end up offering and rather or not MEBO qualifies so several of our targets get to play against top competition awhile longer.

I'm also hoping Mo gets his team to qualify, but I don't think we're recruiting any of his guys.

I think we almost have to up the tempo this season to be successful. We aren't exceptionally big and we have a guy who creates on the move with Sexton. I think transition baskets will be a big part of our game now. Sexton can push it down the floor and our bigs can run the floor, if teams don't get back, they will pay.

If not, we set up the half court offense. But I think pushing it down the floor will be more productive and create more opportunities for us.

Team Penny routed Mississippi Express earlier 81-57

Penny: DJ Jeffries had 20 points, 6 rebounds and James Wiseman who just switched teams to Team Penny had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks

MEBO: DJ Stewart 10/5, Woodard 14/9 and 5 steals, and Butler 12/4/5

I agree with that. I don't think we need to go crazy just trying to run run run, but our best lineup is most likely going to be some combination of these six guys: Sexton, Ingram, Petty, Riley, Key, Donta (I'm taking a wait and see attitude about Giddens - he should be serviceable at least).

That doesn't make us an exceptionally small team by any means, but we're not a grind it out team either.

We'll also have some capable guards off the bench too. One of the nice things about this team that maybe goes under the radar is Avery Jr. should be a pretty solid backup PG.

It would be nice if we could find three capable contributing bigs out of the Donta, Giddens, Reese, and Smith group

Myreon Jones had another solid game with 16 points on only 10 shots.

Kira Lewis had a 27 point game at the U16 level

I know Avery told us he wants to go faster when he got some players in that were capable of it, but I don't mind playing slow if it's effective. Last year we could've been good if we could just shoot.

Bad weekend for Miss Express continued with a 87-48 loss.

Woodard with 17
Stewart with 8 shot really poorly in this game
Butler with 8

This is true, and having someone efficient from 3 will do wonders for our half court offense.

As far as an up tempo style, on paper, I don't remember a Bama team as suited to play this way as what we have now. Moving the ball in an uptempo style with success takes some athletic basketball players though. And we just looked uncomfortable on the break last year. It's like we couldn't finish at the rim, or made bad decisions on the break. Players lacking basketball skills with little athleticism rarely translate to easy open court baskets.
Hell, 3 on 1's last year typically resulted in a foul and missed free throws. (Norris crashing down the lane with 2 left feet, Hale taking steps or getting rejected...etc)
Sexton plays fast, and hopefully will be able to feed the rock on the break making the right pass, to the right player to finish AT THE RIM.
That, with our depth at wing and G seems to hint at more of an up tempo style being beneficial this season, more so than the past anyway.
Adding some players with higher basketball IQs wont hurt either.

Only thing that worries me this year is if we can find someone to replace Bola's rebounding. Them 2nd chance opportunites will be huge this year.

Well my level of excitement on Alex Reese has went waaay down from where it was.

Herb is gonna be the real deal and a contributer this year.

Some legit games at home this year. Texas, UCF, Oklahoma, and URI are worth buying season tickets without even considering the SEC schedule.

With those 4 games, Memphis, and the Barclays Center Classic, I guess we only have 4-5 unconfirmed games. I'd imagine 2 of those would be low major teams we host as part of the Barclays Center stuff.
